Hi!

I'm a soon-to-be 2015 GT (w/ performance pack) owner, making a big jump from my 2010 Mazda 3, and I need answers and suggestions.

1) Why is called the S550?

2) If I have a clean driving record, how much should I expect the car insurance to jump?

3) Affordable exhaust suggestion? I'm almost locked in on the Borla S-Type right now, I've looked at the MBRP Street and MRT as well, but any suggestions in the same price range of Borla or less?

4) Clear bra for the front of the car? Clear bra isn't really noticeable, but is it worth it? or leave it how it is?

5) Any other modifications I should make to the car? I'm doing basic stuff such as changing most of the lights inside and out to LEDs.

6) Also, any exhaust enthusiasts know if the Borla S-Type improves MPG a little bit like the MBRP Street?

Thanks!

1) S550 is the chassis code

2) it really depends on the state, my insurance increased $7 per month going from a 2015 fusion to a 2015 mustang GT

3) suggestions on exhaust? Ask 10 people you will get 10 answers. I have corsa extreme, they are well engineered, good looking, and do not drone

4) I cannot really comment on a clear bra, but mine is a DD and I plan to drive it often. My 2011 I put about 20k miles per year on it. It's a car and it's made to be driven

5) wheels wheels wheels. Probably the one thing that really makes the car yours and is essential to a good looking car

6) exhaust will not improve MPG, tuning will but not exhaust

Otherwise good luck and have fun!

1. Google is your friend
2. Nobody can answer this. Call your insurance company
3. So you can research exhaust but not for question #1?
4. Depends on what you define as worth it
5. Is it your car or are we building it for you
6. MPG's really?

Insurance:

True, this depends on the state (zip code, I believe), carrier and the coverage you choose beyond the minimum required by law; plus variables such as your record, age, marital status and, at least in CA, your occupation. (True story...The other day I switched from State Farm to Geico. I really did save 17%...much had to do with the simple fact my spouse is a software developer. Go figure.)

BTW, good news since you live in CA: Credit score is NOT considered in your coverage. Same with MA and HI. The practice was banned. :D

Clear bra is expensive, I passed and my front is fine. (near 10,000 miles)

Affordable exhaust - MBRP

Other mods - Tune and intake rock.

Do you know for a fact that Geico gave you a lower car insurance rate due to your husbands job? I ask because I currently have State Farm and I too am a software developer.

Below is snipped from Geico's list of discounts specifically for California. We qualified for this particular plan.

There is also quite an extensive list of organizations on their site (i.e. military, colleges, etc) that offer discounts and if you are a member of any of them, you will qualify. I would imagine these discounts apply to states other than CA.

I never looked into this with State Farm when I added my husband; my agent never brought it up.

I love when people are already planning down to the specific mods they're gonna do before they even have the car. That's how you know they're OCD like me.
