So I have to preface this build thread with the fact that the intent behind getting this car was for my wife and I to enjoy a "fun car" before kids enter the picture in a few years. We both have the flexibility of working from home and now was the best time for us to trade in her lousy Mazda CX-5 and be able to enjoy a manual V8 American sports car. I drive a 2016 F-150 and love the Ford brand. After some research I quickly found out the s550 mustang is by far the best bang for your buck and the best looking car in our budget.

After much back and forth on color, manual vs auto, whether or not we should do it, missing out on a smoking deal, and negotiating with salesmen, we finally found our car.

The day after Christmas last year we purchased a 2016 GT Premium in Deep Impact Blue with 17k miles, ceramic leather seats, and the Roush intake and axle back exhaust already installed. With this being a daily driver for her, the plan is to chase an OEM+ look - our version of how it should look and feel off the factory line. Many mods and pictures to come, but these are a few pics from the day we brought the car home.

First up was an interior and exterior deep clean, paint decontamination, paint correction, and sealant/wax coating. The paint was scratched and swirled as expected, but corrected out great and the metallic blue is awesome. My process and a few pics:

- Obsessed Garage decon soap
- Optimum Clay Bar
- Iron X Iron Removal
- Torx 5" DA polisher
- Jescar Correcting compound with a Megiuars microfiber cutting pad
- Sonax perfect finish with a Lake country white pad
- Jescar powerlock sealant
- Collinite Wax
- Topping of beadmaker sealant after the first maintenance wash

That same weekend I upgraded sync for the first time in the car's life (was version 1.0) and installed the usb adapter to use Apple carplay. A must for her to have maps on the screen while she's driving - especially with a manual. In my opinion, it completely transforms the infotainment system in the car - massively better than anything Sync can put out there.

Next up were the Ford Performance hoot struts and performance pack strut tower brace. No noticeable differences from the tower brace but a nice touch up to the engine bay.

I was originally going to save up for a set of the SVE 350r wheels in graphite and wrap them in Michelin pilot 4s but came across a set of performance pack wheels on facebook and wrapped them in Firestone Indy 500s. Love the look! And much improved handling and gripping over the stock 18's wrapped in Pirelli's. Couldn't even do a hard pull in 2nd without losing traction, but thats all fixed - for now.

The interior mods started with the GT350 knob which I much preferred over the GT knob. While I was at it, I ended up picking up the shift boot, trim, and cup holder trim off a GT350 parts car to start. I have a GT350 radio bezel, ac vents, and speedometer trim on the way as well.

I much prefer the darker, brushed look of these parts compared to the tacky chrome on the interior of our cars.

Swapped in the 18-19 GT350 radio bezel today. Along with the speedometer trim and installed an ngauge tuner.

Just waiting on my tune file!

Hey! I know this car! Lol

Did you end up selling off your 18s? What about the stock chrome trim piece for the shifter? I could buy both of them if you were selling
