I think we need some new special edition names instead of recycling the same ones from the last 50 years. Any good ideas?

How about borrowing from some fighter jet names... theres already a few shared names.... of course the mustang itself, but also Kingcobra is a U.S> fighter jet too.

My favorites.... Hellcat and Superhawk!

It's gonna be damn hard to come up with better names than they already have b/c of what these names have meant over the years.
I mean who is going to top Steve McQueen and the Bullitt in cool?

Then again maybe kids these days can't relate to these names.

I think Hellcat and Superhawk are COOL names, but I don't know how well they meld with Mustang?

I've grown affectionate of Cobra, Mach 1 is great too. Heck they've done a great job with the terms.

How about Predator?

Imagine the time people must spend around a table discussing exactly this. Thinking of terms that convey the car. Fast, sleek, cutting edge. It's pretty neat if you think about it.

What you don't like the "Aaron Paul" aka Jesse the human punching bag from breaking bad as the next SE?

That NFS mustang has to get a name right? maybe it'll be something new they can use going forward.

How about a Foose with a unique paint job, wheels, unique rear bumper, and front fascia?

Or how about taking a page from Chevy when they did the Nascar drivers special edition Monte Carlo and do a John Force special edition? Although that would have been a lot more interesting if he was still driving a mostly green paint scheme. Maybe even do a Courtney Force edition car with a pink paint scheme.

^^^ love the name, but too bad everyone thinks of the Nissan GT-R when hearing that.

How about a Mustang GT-S?? That'd be cool

I think none of these names sound right at first. Over time it takes on an identity and ppl start to associate it with the Mustang, but on its own for ex I think the Mach 1 sounds a little corny.... but thats just me.

I like Bullitt and Cobra tho. I bet they come up with something cool for the first SE. I'm just glad Ford doesnt use all these nonsense letters/numbers combos (except a few like GT350, GT500) that so many companies have... 1LE, ZL1, Z28 etc..

I dont think it officially has a name. Ford has just been calling it the Hero Car.

Both Ford and Shelby have come out with Mustang GTS's. Ford's was basically a stripped down GT and the other was basically an entry level Shelby with just about the ugliest body kit I've ever seen on one.

If they come up with a different nameplate I wana see them move away from the whole cobra/snake thing which never made my sense to begin with.

Anything but the DUB edition would be a win already~

You know what they should do? Have a Facebook naming contest like they did with the V6 Perf Package to get the "Mayhem" name. Actually, that's not a bad name for a special edition IMO

A forced induction V6 Mayhem SE of some sort??

Based on the quality of FB comments, dont think this is the greatest idea :)

Also any special editions should be based off the GT. SE's are more about publicity and bragging rights than sales revenue so basing it off of the enthusiast/performance model makes more sense.

If Shelby can make a "budget" special edition like the V6 options for the GTS, I dont see why not. As a younger guy, I'd like to see it. I'm not in the market for a GT500, GT350 etc which will both probably be way over my budget. The GT is about as much as I can afford and still have a little room for a few mods.

Something like GTS package from Shelby for the regular guy would be awesome. It's one of the few unfilled niches I think. How about 50hp more than the GT, bigger and improved brakes, exhaust, handling package and appearance package..... for around 45k?

To get one straight from Ford instead of a tuner would be even better.

Yea altho some of the names weren't quite thought out so well. Not exactly what you expect - people sitting in a board room, conducting surveys, focus groups etc. The GT350 is totally random name from Shelby himself about the number of feet or whatever from his office.

Predator Mustang? Not bad. BMW released a new M5 special ed called the Nighthawk. I thought that would be a cool name.

It's too bad there nothing from popular culture that they can use now that works. Bullitt just happened to be a great name for a car. They would have to come up with something totally new. There is that new engine.... the Voodoo..... :paddle:
