My car gets picked up today by Tasca for the install of my Whipple SC Kit and I wanted to get my remote mount UPR catch can 5038-98 installed before they pick it up so I thought I'd take a few pictures and document my install for anyone who might be interested. I made few adjustments for the install and just wanted to share.
The first thing I did was reverse the catch can mount that is on the end of the bolt/spacer setup. Mine came with the can mounting bolt placed on the radiator side. This location for me was too far right in the usable space and caused the can to rub against the metal hoses from the trans cooler. Joe from UPR build a brilliant kit and even included rubber O rings to keep the assembly of bolts and spacers together as to not fall apart and loose pieces in the engine bay when installing. Just remove the O ring at the end of the threads on the long bolt and disassemble the pieces and flip the can mounting piece over and reinstall.
This next picture shows the can mounted on the post of the mount and how changing it around shifted the can towards the passengers headlight and fits better in the usable space. It does not rub at all.
Take a look at the wire that runs from the passenger firewall to the coolant line. I ended up shaving the plastic mount off to better allow the top hose of the kit to be plugged/unplugged. This is a minor adjustment I made as the wire is small in nature and in my opinion does not "need" to be secured. I understand some people would choose not to do this but I think the ease of removing the hose for draining the kit was worth it.
I also removed the 4 screws holding the can to the mount and rotated the can on the mount to allow the output port of the can to be centered between the washer fluid container and coolant line. The can can be rotated simply by loosening the 4 screws but for me it hit the end of its travel in the slots before I got it where I wanted it.
The last 2 pictures just show the Finnish product with and without the radiator cover installed.
I just want to thank Joe from UPR for this great kit and all the help he has provided me in selecting it.
He is also working with me on a setup Whippled cars once mine is back in the next 2 weeks.
