I started a similar thread on this topic a couple weeks ago.

I have Pypes headers, x-pipe, and Roush axle-backs; and this combo is loud-as-phuck and extremely obnoxious! To the point I need to get the MagnaFlow resonator x-pipe, or try to find someone willing to give me their stock mufflers....?

I live in a great neighbourhood. We are friends with most of our neighbours and all of our kids are in HS and of similar age and they are good friends as well, so for me, NOT having my neighbours pissed at me is a benefit.

Yes, I can start my car in the garage with the door closed, but when I do my family is still in bed because I am out the door for work before their feet are on the ground. Starting my car in the garage with the door closed is an absolute NO-NO!! Remember, "happy wife = happy life".

So what I try to do is start the car (waking the dead in the process), wait 2-3 seconds and then put the car in gear while keeping my foot on the brake. This immediately quiets the car down to a somewhat sane level, but that initial bark upon start-up is nothing but brutal.

Then with my foot still on the brake, I switch the car into rain/wet/snow power mode, and begin to creep out of our housing development. Then once I'm in the clear, so-to-speak, I put the car into normal or sport mode and continue to work (on the days that I actually drive my 'Stang).

But..., my 2016 GT is not my DD. I have a 2011 Chevy Cruze for that. My '16 GT is my special occasional toy. But my exhaust combo is ridiculous!

I've found that the rain/snow drive mode also quiets the car down a bit while being easy on the pedal. No help with the cold start though.
Rain/snow mode just desensitizes the throttle. It has no impact on the loudness of the exhaust

I have very cool neighbors, most of whom have told me how great my car sounds. There are others in the neighborhood with some loud cars / trucks so at least I'm not the only one, and my '17 GT is a toy so I'm not firing it up at 6 AM...if I were, it's not as loud as some of you guys / gals...

I just have Pypes Axle backs and an X-Pipe... recently had a chance to listen to a locals car w/a full Kooks setup (I believe it was cat-less). I was standing a couple feet behind to the left, it fired up and I felt like it was shaking my teeth loose! I thought it sounded super mean... but would probably not be well appreciated for the daily commuter. If I went that route I'd probably end up muting it some by using the Magnaflow x-pipe...

Most of my neighbors are old and can't hear for shit... It doesn't hurt that I refuse to get out of bed before 9 AM, including work days. Plus I work from home, so I don't fire up my baby every morning regardless.
