Went to a great show yesterday here in Northern California "All Fast Fords and Muscle Mustangs" event with almost 200 mustangs plus other fords and non-Fords too.

My car was in a booth for a friends mobile detailing company so I left it there and enjoyed the show for a bit.

Now I know these cars are not specifically meant for this but being at Sacramento Raceway (not a great prepped track) and watching a lot of people I know go down the strip, it was eating at me to run the car. So I grabbed it from its fresh wax and hopped in line for a fun run. Put the car on the "drag strip" driving mode and made a horrible first pass with my girlfriend in the car. Then I ran my only other pass of the day and ran a 12.63

I'm pretty happy with that number seeing as my car was full weight, stock tires, semi-prepped track, no burnout, no launch control and I'm in no way shape or form a professional driver. Shifted around 7200-7400 RPM because looking at a stock Dyno sheet here it looked like that was about the peak of the power curve. Anyway, just wanted to share my results and a picture or two.

Good run. Wish I could have went. I was expecting to see you lifting the front tire off the ground.

Did you run the auto x course?

My car definitely made power all the way to 8k and then started to flatten off. You might as well rev it out.

If you shift at the HP peak, you will me making much less than peak when you enter the next gear. You need to take the car past peak, so your next gear isn't as far down the power curve. In the voodoo, that means shifting at redline.

trap speed is a little low but that time isn't bad!

Redline is the best shift point according to the math. My guess most will be fastest by shifting 1st "at" 7,500 and the rest of the gears at 8K. The tach seems to be a bit behind the actual RPM in 1st, so shifting early is good. Also the difference between 7,500 and 8K in 1st is pretty meaningless. The rest shifting a hair early keeps you off the rev limiter.

8250 per my analysis, which I posted here a while back.
I spoke with Randy Pobst about this exact topic and he said "wind her out" all the way to 8250.
