My First oil change question ?

So I’m nearly reaching my first 1,000 miles on my 2021 Mustang Gt, and was wondering when should I get my first oil change ? And should I get it at the dealership? I usually change my oil every 4K-5k miles. I also don’t have an oil catch yet.

FWIW, I plan on my first one being at 1,000, then following the recommended schedule for oil changes afterwards.

I prefer doing general maintenance activities like this myself. I have a vested interest in the car. I know the car will be treated well and the task will be done right. Others have good relationships with the dealer and the person doing the work.

Regarding the catch can, if you didn't already know, the engine will use 10 quarts.

Every 4k. I've been doing that for 66k miles now. Car gets driven hard every day. Doesn't skip a beat and doesn't consume any oil.
