Tempted but gonna let Mac be guinea pig and have a go of his first. In the meantime I will get the headers sorted on mine, want to push it as far as I can safely NA to see what I feel and of course in the name of science, haha.

The Haggis I can do, since the NC500. Not such a fan of Whisky though.

Cant remember last time I had been so unwell. Felt good driving the car for the first time in a week at the weekend. Its first trip was taking Blake to an American Football try out. He was pretty popular with the other lads, seeing him turn up in a new Mustang.

Stressful day in 'The Beast' yesterday.

So, I had a business meeting in Coventry yesterday. Up at 5am and pulling out of my driveway at 5.30. I had about half a tank of fuel so I figured I would fill up on the way home.

Pulled in to a fuel station to buy a bottle of water. (should ave filled up with fuel but couldn't be arsed).

Backing out of my parking space, I was checking my passenger side mirror as there was a transit on the move, I wasnt sure if he was stopping or coming through behind me. Just as he stopped I heard and felt a bang,

Shit! At first I thought I had managed to back into a petrol pump but no, I had backed into a Toyota pickup. I drove back into my space and got out to view the damage.

It was dark but both cars seemed unmarked which I was amazed buy as it was quite a thud. I expected my bumper to be cracked at the very least.

How the hell I managed to do it, lord only knows. Yeh, I have had a couple of driving accidents but I have never had a parking type accident before.

Anyway, off I went to carry on my day.

Stopped at Toddington services, smiled as I drove in when I thought about last time I was there, along with about a dozen other Mustangs (on the way to Northampton). I answered the call of nature and carried on (should have put some fuel in but couldn't be arsed)

After about 5 miles I noticed that satnav was not working. I tried to reset it but it just was not having it. Tried it on voice but when I said 'Navigation' the silly bitch told me to say another command, it was like I didn't have satnav all of a sudden!

I popped the sd card out and re-inserted it but nothing.

Suddenly remembered that I had the old F4 sd card knocking around somewhere, located in the glove box, inserted it and I was back up and running.

It was a few miles later I ran out of screen wash! It was that sort of weather where the road is wet but the salt ridden water dries as soon as it hits the screen. I tried my bottle of water but that just squirted straight back in the car through the open window.

Managed to sort it a couple of times by driving behind trucks but I really needed to stop and fill up the washer bottle. So I did at the next services.

Topped up the water bottle and carried on my journey (should ave filled up with fuel but couldn't be arsed.

Everything was fine still and my ETA was showing at about 30 mins before my meeting and I only had 40 mins left, what could go wrong.

Getting in to a bit of 'Whole Lotta Rosie' ACDC and missing my turn off, thats what!!

Obviously the satnav sorted things out for me but suddenly 15 mins had been added to my journey!

Soon I was heading to my destination. I had 3 miles to go and 16 miles range. I passed a fuel station and should ave filled up but...I didnt have time!

I got to where I was told to park but the car park was full. I now had 10 minutes to my meeting and stared the drive round to find a parking space. I found one, not in the most desirable area and walked away from the car, wondering if it would be there when I went back for it.

Great meeting. Lots of work won, starting in Feb. Walked out very happy.

Got to car and it was there and all in one piece. Started up and had 9 miles of range. I had NEVER let it get this low before. Put nearest filling station in satnav (.8 miles) and off I went. Err, it clearly used to be a filling station but now it was a co-op!

Found the next one (1.5) miles and as I was approaching the range had gone down to 2 miles (it must have re-calculated based on my current MPG

Pulled in, only to see the sign SORRY NO PETROL

Shit!!! I put in another filling station and drove to that SHIT!!! I was back at the co-op!

I was now looking at the list of stations and not knowing if these were ones I had tried or not. I started to accept I was going to run out of fuel. I am not sure what concerned me the most.

The embarrassment of being the dick head in a 5.0 V8 running out of fuel.

The fact that everywhere I went, there was not a 'convenient' place to break down.

Or the general inconvenience of it all.

So, I decided to set the satnav for home and just hope that something turned up.

I did another 3 miles or so barely going over 1000 rpm, before I saw a sign in the distance 'Texaco' and it was down hill! I just let the engine pretty much tick over in 6th and trundled down the hill and made it to a fuel pump.

The feeling of elation as I stuck the nozzle in and gave 'The Beast' a well deserved drink was amazing but at the same time I wanted to kick my own head in for bringing this stress on myself.

Have I learned from this? Probably not, as I now know that I still have some fuel left when the range goes down to 0. Normally I don't let it get below 25 or so.

Check all the fixings behind the bumper when you get a chance. It might look OK on the outside but you don't want it letting go when you approach (ahem) the legal limit. Mate of mine was rear ended in a Mustang; looked OK on the outside but actually bust a couple of the fixings.

Thank the lord that was only a fuel related story. Thought we were heading for a minor-bump-turned-disaster storyline after the SatNav went! Did the card just give up?

Good read over this morning's coffee

It's so exciting when you have one of those moments when you're thinking that you're not going to make it.
