Well after 2600 miles my car has the ticking noise at idle when it's hot. It's like a knocking sound that in any other car I would not consider "normal". It only had the piston rap before when it was cold, not this. After reading so many threads on it and the Plasma process, etc. I am assuming that it is a normal for this engine and will just continue to drive and enjoy it. Is there anything I need to do? It drives so great, no other problems so the noise is there and unless it starts knocking loud or the engine fails completely I will not bring it in.

I get it after an oil change, then it goes away. 0 performance issues, no oil being burned, nothing negative other than the occasional sound.

Ya, it is not consistent. Mine does not use any oil either and the engine runs so good. But when I do hear the sound at idle it's just weird. I had a 90's GM truck with the 4.3 V6 that I had the engine rebuilt. After 3K miles it made the exact same knocking sound the GT makes. I had to yank the engine out, take it apart and replace the block- it had a cracked cylinder wall in one of the cylinders.

Mine ticks occasionally, sounds like its a FEAD issue for me.

I changed my oil at 3000miles, Using the new Rotella T6 5w-30 multi vehicle oil.

I lost less than a quart of the original oil fill and after 2500miles it's lost less than a quart since the change, I beat on my car hard and best of all, I'm averaging 22.7mpg since I bought it doing it.
