Right but do they replaced scratched bumpers with new ones or just paint them? Damage is damage.
If it's just a paint scratch or very minimal panel damage that can be sanded out then no it will repainted. A wheel is different entirely.

One other thing? What the heck is up with your deductible? And the dealers? Almost $1900 worth of damage and your deductible is higher than that? WOW!
I very rarely drive cars other than my own, and I perform almost all maintenance and repairs on my own for the cost of parts. Thanks Ford for making an exceptionally robust and easy to fix car!

But what about the orange peel? I'm kidding. Ok, I'm done with this thread, my email inbox is killing me. Either way, good luck to the OP. Hope everything works out for you.

Everyone here is going to tell you to do the right thing. But you do what's best for you. Sorry, they don't pay your bills. If you're a high roller then handle it, if you're not then do what's best for you. No one gives a shit about you but you.
Then he shouldn't have asked for advice. lol.
Everyone here is trying to be helpful without sugar coating it. Best to be realistic than give him advice that would lead to court and cost him more as you suggested initially. ;)

As long as it never gets reported it never happened. I worked part time in a large body shop, we would straighten frames on brand new cars for local dealers that got tied down too tight in transport. If the alignment could not get dial in, we put them on a computerized frame rack and they were straighter than most on the lot.

You're right he did ask. BTW, thanks for the reports on Thursdays. :)

But what happens to cars that are damage during transport? Aren't those cars repaired at body shops and sold as new?
That's exactly what happens. Mine came in Monday with a relatively deep scratch on the front right. It's being fixed by Friday. They don't always completely replace everything, still gets sold as new. The purchaser is usually none the wiser.

A scratch on bumper can be buffed or worse case painted. When you get the vehicle you can't tell the difference.
Rims and tires are a different story.
At our dealership we always repair scratch and dents. Wheel damage we automatically request replacement.

My thought...
See if they will replace it at cost and since you bought the Wheel and rim you should be able to keep them. You might be able to recoup some money on ebay motors.

Do you work for a Ford dealer?

That's kind of what I was thinking, except I have no means of determining what "at-cost" is.

How about ask the Dealer for a payment plan?

You could just stop by every few weeks with some money until you pay it off. They get their money, no court and you don't have to raise $1900 all at once.
