Why isn't Ford more transparent on country content in the Mustang? According to the second window sticker, the average Mustang has US and Canada content of 55% and 15% Mexico. Like I said that's the average but what's the range? The known Variables? Engine and transmission.

Engine: V6, and V8 USA; i4 Spain.

Transmission: Automatic USA, Manual China.

To my guesstimation that means some Mustangs are as high as 80% from North America, some under 50%

Ford, please let us clearly know what we buying.

Thank you,

The Getrag MT-82 manual transmission is a German design built to Ford's tolerances in a Chinese factory. The Mustang's final assembly is at Flat Rock, Michigan, USA. I personally do not like the MT-82 (I had one in my '11 Mustang GT). In fact, I disliked it so much, I bought a '14 Mustang GT with the 6R80 automatic (North American built and bulletproof at the dragstrip). I've owned 6 manual trans Mustangs and only 2 automatics, but the MT-82 was so bad I just couldn't own another. Ford claims the shifting is much better in the 2015 Mustang, though.

Gee, I don't care at all where the parts originated. I want a great car - like the Fusion (most of which are assembled in Mexico) or the Focus (that was designed in Germany). I'm willing to let Ford figure out where to best source the parts in order to have a fine car that is more economical for Ford to produce and then sell to me.

I had an early 2011 GT, never had any problems with my MT-82, but I know a lot of people did. Hopefully I have good luck on my 15 too.

It's pretty good for street driving. I presume speed shifting would be another story, based on the stock configuration. I've not driven an '11-'14 for comparison, but I will say I've enjoyed it in a daily driver.

The MGW looks to be something that you could significantly muscle around in this car.

To the OP - not sure what else is needed to be known about the parts content beyond the major elements - engine, transmission, and country of assembly.

If you want it down to a lower level, the supplier graphic posted above it about as good as you would get with information in the public domain.

What a graphic, make me wonder what did Ford make? I guess I have to amit that the outsouseing manufacturing model has given us a terrific Mustang. I sure hope Ford works to bring that 55% number up over time.

Thank you,

The biggest thing they make are the body and the engines. I hope they continue to do what they need to keep the price reasonable. It doesn't make economic sense for that company to make everything if they can use economies of scale to purchase from other companies. That's what keeps the economy rolling.

I had an 05 GT Manual...this Trans is way better!

Why is anyone surprised by this? Virtually anything assembled has parts supplied by other companies. The more global the company the more global the suppliers.

PCs, tablets etc. Have memory, storage, processors, screens that are mainly supplied from Asia and in many cases assembled the (Foxcom).

Goodyear, Michelin, BFG buy most of their chemical supplies from China.

Even the parts that ford does, chances are the supplies come from a variety of countries.

Hoping it's not a joke, before you upload your picture, use a picture editor (ms paint, photo viewer, etc) to rotate your image and save the file. Once done then upload the new rotated picture.

If it's a joke, then lol.

Just looked at a black GT...window sticker stated: 85% US+Canada/15% Mexico.
I demand to know percentages from each state, county, and city!

Exactly. Welcome to the world economy. Good luck finding a modern car even 50% sourced from any one country - it simply isn't going to happen.
