I reckon Chrysler missed the opportunity to have the Challenger here, way before the RHD Mustang was even thought of.
The Challenger is supposed to be on the platform as the Chrysler 300 , so RHD was possible.
I know I would have Considered a Challenger, had it been available a few years back.
Maybe the Chrysler bean counters had market information to show it wasn't viable.
Probably the same market info that Ford had, that Australia only wanted something like 400 Mustangs a year
Not sure about the Challenger. It's a lard of a two door and looks a bit narrow and slab sided. The body needs to flair out a bit. More for the Mopar tragic, i think. The 4door Charger would be interesting. Charger SRT8 could be the new SS/XR8, even though it to, is a bit heavy.

Plenty of Holden/GM fans would want them, but the price tag will be a barrier along with availabilty. Non-brand committed buyers are going to go for the cheaper Mustang, especially when used prices inevitably crash further.

It would be good to see Camaros arrive to continue the Ford v GM rivalry, hopefully on the race track too, either GT4, Supercars or both.

I got a wave back from a late generation Camaro owner earlier in the year, so it might add to the USA muscle car community if more arrive.
My brand loyalty has evaporated with the end of local production. This is from someone that had a string of 6 commodores in a row before my Mustang. No amount of fixing will bring the European GM and Ford products up to the standard that we came to expect from our local car makers. We are a very demanding lot.

The Camaro doesn't have the unique style that makes the Mustang as recognisable as it is, and by the reactions I get, it never will. 2 thumbs up in traffic and approached by a couple as I was getting into it, on Friday alone.

I'm a Mustang man now.:clap2:

Wow, that's a big turnaround, congratulations! My partner's brother ordered a Mustang after I ordered mine and loves it, his first ever Ford.

People who never owned Falcons and Commodores were quick to look down on them. My Falcons were always good value, good dynamically, good reliability, good in every way.

It would have been nice to see Ford Australia more involved in the gen 6 Mustang. Secondhand I heard some engine parts or ancillaries were engineered here.

Over the years our Falcons & Commodores developed into very good cars. As I said, we are very demanding.

I'm sure I have read that both Ford & GM have retained design and development staff in Aust as part of the development of future models.

Yeah Id say Im a Holden guy by virtue of my dad being a MAD Holden supporter. Like, had 100+ tapes of bathurst recorded type mad. Which makes Ford the enemy by default.

But to me a Mustang is basically another brand to Ford, because its always been a Mustang, nor a Ford. The lack of Ford badging (well, top center of the windscreen being hte exception) is showing that Ford trade on the Mustang name more then their own brand name.

Id go for a RHD Camero if it was available, I know Pioneer have one thats insane here in Melbourne, saw it at my old work (Which was a car parts company) and, no surprise, its AV systems were insane. If they put less then $150k into it Id be surprised though, but even if you don't go to their levels a Camero will cost a lot more then a Mustang even if they do factory RHD because thats their level.

But, even then a Camero is not a Mustang, and Id rather a Mustang. Honestly if a Camero is $80k (which is low it seems) Id rather a Mustang full of mods then a stock Camero.

I have bought 14 Holdens since 1972 (V8 SLR Torana and VH SS Group 3 among them)((wish I still had them)).
I did not buy the last of the SS Commodores as it is now a very old platform, as good a car as it is I felt no brand loyalty with the end of local production.
I buy Rear Wheel Drive V8 vehicles and Holden will no longer have one.
GM could have had the Camaro on sale in Australia if they wanted to but now they have missed the boat with many people like me having bought a S550 Mustang.
The current Mustang is a fabulous looking and performing vehicle, I really like my first FORD.

Well done FORD!

Well you sent me counting. You win, I've only had 11 Holdens since 1978.

I also considered the SS or even a Clubsport, being the last of the Commodores, but the Mustang will be special for a long time to come.

GM, could only go RHD Camaro, if Ford didn't. Ford beat them to it, maybe due to the their model cycle. I think, the all new, S550 came at the right time for Ford to beat GM to the RHD punch. There simply isn't enough RHD volume for both. Even Ford will struggle to keep RHD volume up, because i think there are a lot of "once only" Mustang buyers. Time will tell.

I have read this before. Lets face it, HSV are desperate, now that VF is coming to it's end. A shame really. But totally understandable. How many desperate GM diehards are going to part with $100k for a SS Camaro (non Factory RHD), even if the Mustang wasn't $60K? Camaro SS would be a great bus to, at $60-$70K.
The same die hards willing to part with $130k for the last of the line Commode SS models+ I am guessing.

When you are nuts for Holdens, you are.... nuts!

Camaro, isn't really a "Holden". But i suppose, there will be some people willing to buy an overpriced Camaro, just to be different. Because, Mustangs are becoming like a/holes. Everyone will have one.:paddle:
