The world has more than it's fair share of a-holes at the moment.
Disrespect and selfishness seems to be rampant.
Hopefully both the cars clean up ok.

A dash cam with a parking sensor would help at least get them on video if they walk infront of it.

But yeah not much you can do but keep the paint in good condition so it can be fixed easily like in this case

The owner had countless businesses offering to fix the pony, a local detailer/panel work shop has fixed it for him for free

You have to wonder what's wrong with some people. Utterly pointless act. Hope karma kicks them in the balls.

It sounds as if it was just polished out maybe? Or would it first be softened first by turps or something?
Some, the light dusty stuff, would be removable by polish, clay bar etc but as indicated in the article there would've been some actual respray necessary where the solvent in the spray can has etched and lifted the water based paint on the car.

I had the same thing happen to a new white BMW 5 series I had a few years back. Every car in the street was sprayed right down one side with black oil based paint.
Spoke to BMW and they supplied some polish and I spent an entire day the next weekend polishing it out. Then I had to polish the other side to match the gloss I had put on the car. Huge pain.
