Saddened me to read this morning about fatalities resulting from a "late model" Mustang losing control during a race and plowing into a crowd of onlookers. One officer described the car as "a very powerful sports vehicle that appeared to be modified for it to go faster than what it was intended for." I know there are huge fans here of mods on their new S550's... I just wish to implore everyone to be smart... be safe... don't be stupid. I would be INCREDIBLY bummed to read about someone here... especially my new '15er friends from this week's meetup in the Bay Area. Thanks for listening.

Here in Saudi Arabia the kids with Japanese front wheel drive vehicles have brought street drifting to a new low as they kill on the average dozens daily (see youtube for some illegal Saudi street drifting events gone horribly wrong)

Looks like the driver of the mustang was i.d.'d this morning.

No matter how you look at it, it's a bad situation for all.

All were in their 20's. One stupid mistake with such an enormous effect. Thoughts and prayers to everyone involved.

You drive with slicks all the time on the street? Are you trying to say that this was possibly coincidence?

I'm sure if you show up to an illegal street racing event (with your slicks) it's only logical that people will assume you are going to run it. Whether you run it or not is entirely up to you, however, this individual decided to participate. The gentleman that was driving the Mustang had slicks, an alleged built car and he raced illegally on the street. Is it possible he was driving by, saw the races and stopped in and got called out? Sure. But in my opinion I don't think it went down like that.

So the spectators were just randomly walking through a side street late at night?
I think not. They were spectating and watching the street race.
Shame on the driver, but those people should not have been there especially knowing there was a street race happening.
thousands are killed every year due to auto collisions, now I'm going to be hounded by cops and people driving my mustang around with exhaust and big ol' tires in the rear.
