Nice looking wheel and tire combination.
Presumably they are identical for all four corners rather than the staggered pattern of the GT PP wheels.
What tires would you recommend strictly for the street for Summer use?
Also, are the wheels at the outer limit do width to fit the car or can you still go wider if racing classification is not important?
I've been a fan of the Dunlop Direzza Star-spec Z series. They are SUCH a good all around tire. I ran the last set on my BMW down to slicks and they still gripped.

That's not to say they wear quickly though. They are some of the best in the wet, whereas the Hankook RS-3, are not very good in the wet.

I tend to buy autocross tires, which are listed on tire rack as "Extreme Performance Summer", but at least in the dunlops case, they are pretty good all-around tires. The only reason a lot of autocrossers don't run them is that Dunlop doesn't offer any Contingency money or tires for winning on them.

I do run a square setup. With no fender rolling, I think I could probably fit 305's on the 19's. The lowering has applied a good bit of camber which is helping the fitment. The Dusold car has 18x11's with 335's, and I don't think they rolled the fenders.

So you are saying that I could go wider than the 19 x 9.5's that you are running and still be stuffed inside the fender wells. Presumably that would also mean I would have to find a different wheel since I did not find your wheels listed in any other widths for the 2015 GT..
What size Dunlop tire would you run with the wheels you are running and no lowering?
My dilemma is how much wider I an go than what is listed on the cross reference tire charts with the wheel style you are running, as I really like them.

I think we will start seeing issues at 19x10 with the strut getting in the way at least on the fronts. I think my wheels are 35 offset. This is how much room I had with the SVE 19.9.5's with the rim on only.

I'm thinking about dropping to the 18x10 or 11, if I can find something cheaper than a Forgestar, but I might give in and pick up a set of them, if nothing else makes sense.

I think at this point the largest Dunlop available is a 275/35-19.

I ran the Dunlop 255/35-18's the second day at the Texas tour, and they were great for a tire that small. In a 305, I think I could have done some damage. I would have been in the middle of the STU pack even with the 255's, but a ways out of the front runners.

I'm really a Dunlop guy. It's going to be really hard to convince me that I, personally, can drive something else better. I just really know what they will do at the limits.

I really want a set of 305 StarSpecs for CAM-C.

Here are my best runs from the two days. Day one is on the 19x9.5's with used 275 Hankook RS-3's. Day two is the aforementioned 255 Dunlop Z2's. Car felt a hell of a lot better with the Dunlops on even with an inch less width.

She weighed in at 3575 after day two with about a quarter tank of gas, and the stock 18x8's. This means that the cheap weight, battery, washer fluid, 1/8 tank of fuel, could get it down to 3540ish.

Day one run 3, a 74.something

Day two run 3, a 79.something

Just curious as to how many miles were on it when you autocrossed it? What are your thoughts/experiences in pushing the driveline during breakin period?
Sorry, didn't see this.

I ran it the day after I bought it on a wet course at COTA.

Everything feels solid.

I'm at 3500 miles now and everything still feels tight. Well, tight as a base can feel with those softee bushings.

Getting there

Getting closer to being able to control a "hair on fire" run, but still have a ways to go.

Next purchases:

I think the general advice has been to go for the 275/35-19 Bridgestone RE-71R's over the 305/30-19 Hankook RS-3's

BMR's Delrin Cradle bushings, and Poly diff bushings.

Lund tune with hypertech tuner.

This weekends best runs on the 255/35-18 Z2's. It was a short course, so the gearing was decent. On CAM-C pax/prep I'm still about a second out of a decent time:

Management at COTA let us take a parade lap on the Road course, which was fun. I had too much stuff in the car to enjoy it much.

San Antonio SASCA event

Ran the 275/35-19 Hankook RS-3's on a day they finally probably got up to decent temps with immediate returns.

I ran STU this weekend and ended up on the same second as the top 4 boost buggies. Considering my tires(used, cycled out, and at the wear bars), and that I had riders every run, on a dusty course, I think it's a good sign. On CAM-C pax, I would have been pretty close to 95% of top pax, which is about 3% higher than I have been up to now.

I think with new RE-71's in STU, or 305 RS-3 V2's in CAM-C, I think I could break to the top 10-15%(placement, not time) in PAX in a pretty competitive club, without Coilovers, or adjustable dampening. I think the trip to ESP will be fruitful eventually. There is a decent chance I'll be on new rubber and at least two 19x10's by the next local event.

My throttle control is getting better.

3rd and 5th runs.

Thanks a ton for this build information. I'm looking to do a nearly identical build focused on weight and AutoX this summer with a stripped GT and this has provided some awesome information!

Please keep us informed as you move forward!

No problem. Good luck.

I just got dropped into our on-call schedule and it's not looking promising for me to make the Mineral Wells Pro Solo in June.

I have the 18 stockers mounted with 255/35 18 Dunlop Z2's, but they are too short to run as dailys with the Eibach Sportlines on. I race them from time to time, but They are probably coming off and will be replaced with the stock Pirelli's. Just too much compromise, and I can't run F-Street, so there is really no point in running them.

Hoping the 285 Bridgestone RE-71R's make it to the U.S. before nationals. I'll probably run those in CAM-C.

Seven-ish years later and here we are, all fixed up from an unfortunate foray into a wall while on bad tires and finally ready, or almost ready for action again. I'll post some pics of the damage and fix eventually, when I can figure out how to convert the stupid Apple HEIC formatted pics I was apparently taking.

18x11's and 315/30-18's going on. Looks like ok, with the Pedders Extreme XA with camber plates for the necessary 3 degrees with a 25mm Apex spacer.

Making a decision about some Wilwood front brakes that should take 50lbs off the front of the car, but wouldn't be a good choice for track days.
