so, the new gt's are quiet inside no? sounds like it's quieter than previous gen? i used to have a '13 gt and got what was known as "gt500" mufflers and man did i like the sound of those!

two questions, what is the equivalent of that now, the http://fordperformanceracingparts.com/parts/part_details.asp?PartKeyField=24582

second question, anyone upgrade their mufflers and HEAR it inside? (but not too loud haha).

thanks!

I was once a Flowmaster loyalist. Then while waiting on my 2015 to be built started researching new mufflers as I knew the OEM's were too quiet for my taste. I ended up going with the Borla/Ford Racing Sport Cat Back system and could not be more happy! It's quiet when you are easy on the go fast pedal but really talks to you when you lean into a little. Best of both worlds! And NONE of the annoying drone at 2K RPM that you end up trying to drive around.

Just my .02. Get you a good set of headphones and get on YouTube. There are many many sound clips out there with both interior and exterior sound levels.

thanks, so yeah i started youtubing and found a cool interior review of the frpp sport (by borla as it turns out) it sounds good.

i didnt find anything on the touring exceot from borkas youchannel and it might not have been the touring made for frpp. but that sounded pretty quiet.

i think the sport might be the ticket for me.

The Steeda axlebacks are also a good option.

Seconded. Running a set myself, and it's worth every penny. Louder than stock, deeper growl than stock, but not SO loud that I become the neighborhood pariah.

Though I'm considering getting rid of the resonator for an H pipe, so maybe they neighbors will get a chance to hate me just yet, lol

Sound from inside around the neighborhood:

it looks like pretty much all axel back or cat back have to be cut into the existing system?

is the steeda related to the magnaflow at all? i thought i found a page on the net that mentioned magnaflow in the title of the name or something?

how about drone during the cruise mode - 60-80?

by the way overall - steeda's official videos SUCK in terms of audio quality. suckerv, your audio is way better! so david at steeda, maybe you guys should check it out. i'm listening on desktop speakers by mackie.

finally, the steeda, sounds to me in your attached video, a lot like the "gt500" mufflers i had on my '13. i really like it.

Axle-backs will all require cutting the exhaust and clamping on the new mufflers/tips. Cat-backs however, will not. Most will simply replace the stock resonator with an X or H pipe that uses the same exhaust clamps where the resonator bolts up. No cutting required...

I agree with this. I have the Sport Catback also, and the reviews are spot-on. CJPP has some good videos as well. If you like the sound, which can be a little raspy, I think you'll be happy with this. Also it's suprisingly quiet on the highway (great for me since I take a lot of long trips and hardly notice it), but loud enough so people know they are going too damn slow when I pass them!

Check out this thread for videos (under the title Ford Racing Sport X-Pipe): http://www.mustang6g.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16279

The first video on there is what sold me on the Sport Exhaust...

I know your looking for mufflers that aren't too loud, but you could also go with a resonator delete instead. You would see some gains as well as a slightly deeper tone that your looking for.

If you have any other questions feel free to ask!

Thanks,

^^^ Yes ... if you want a little more deep sounding and slightly loud exhaust over stock, going with an H-pipe is and easy and low cost option.

Replacing your stock muffler with a quality aftermarket one always has good results. The exhaust tone will be be improved, while keeping the volume level relatively the same in most cases.
