So I went and ordered the ZL1 mud flaps front & back. Should have them by the end of the week and I'll install them next weekend. I'll post back with a pic if anybody is curious.

Peace
I think you made the right choice. When they arrive, check to make sure you received 8 white blocks and 8 screws.

After seeing this thread and another on an install of a cheap alternative, I'm starting to wonder if their is a market for a set of quality mudflaps/rockguards that can also act as a stylistic element.

Would anybody be interested?
Yes.

Good to hear. I will be prototyping with a stock height GT with Performance pack wheels +25MM spacers. I've looked over the tangent vectors (swath of rock throwage) on the wheels as well as the body elements I have to work with and I think this could be a very elegant package. I believe the geometry will work out ever better for lowered cars.

I have a lot of ideas I'm entertaining, but the concept is that these should look like an OEM aero elements; elegance and function will take precedence. For testing, I will be using the ZL1 Add-on set as my basis. Hopefully I can exceed their performance in all categories, as is always my goal.

I will post some pics as the geometry shapes up.

Looking forward to your results. The Z1 guards are nice, but a much nicer formed set would be a great addition. A plus would be using the rear mounting holes instead of blocks.

The blocks are needed because there are no mounting holes up higher on the rear fender and also because the fender lip is rolled. The blocks are working just fine on my car and they are really easy to install

I have the blocks also with the Z1 kit, but there are mounting points that the GT350 guards mount to.

This is a great topic. I just found a small chip on the DS rear fender. I should have known it could happen based on the huge rooster tail of dirty water spots on the sides of the car, after driving in the rain. :frusty:

I used the flat plastic universal pieces on the FR, looks surprisingly well...there's no need to spend more than $13

Do you have any pics? Also, why did you chose not to put any on the rear?

Thanks for the feedback. It is my goal to reduce installation complexity if possible to meet our shared feelings on this matter

It did come with the eight blocks and eight screws. Hoping to install them this weekend. I've had way to much stuff going on lately that I couldnt set the time aside to do this. UGGH

They go on quick and easy. I followed the directions to a point. I used painters tape to make a mark where the holes were on the flap by putting in one of the lower push pins to locate the flap and then making a mark directly in line with the hole on the painters tape I put on the fender that way I could put the blocks in and not worry about lining them up with a tape measure. Then I marked the holes on the block and drilled them out when they were already on the car and they lined up perfectly.

Ordered a set of the front ZL1's as my front spacers will surely make my already damged quarter panels/doors worse.. Hopefully making it a garage queen and the flaps will mitigate the damage so I can get it fixed.

Got my Cali Pony splash guards in, will be doing an install, shooting photo/videos, reviewing, etc., in the next few days (probably start on Wed).

They look solid, the rears use like a long screw with a collar (I'd assume to create like a solid mount point between the frame/body and the fender liner. A little different approach vs. the ZL1 (rears) that use the mounting blocks.

Not bad. Since im not lowered yet and have the 18s i didnt have to jack up the car and remove rear wheels. Id recommend having some double sided tape. The provided tape was bad and had no adhesion. Luckily i have a roll from my mercedes days. Took about 25 minutes.
