I decided to post just to make sure there's nothing wrong with the car. I drive mixed city/hwy. 75% normal 25% of the time in sport Mode. A little heavy footed. My last couple tanks I ve averaged 18-19 mpg. Both 87 and 93 octane same results. When I take it easy on the throttle the gauge shows an average of 22-23 mpg. Something seems off.

Yea that's about exactly what I'm getting OP. I'm thinking it will improve with break in. I also floor it at least once a day

At first I was getting the same results, 22-24 mpg. The motor is breaking in a bit after 1500 miles and it has improved quite a bit.

Here are some of my observations maybe they will help out:

Skip 4th gear when driving daily - if you cycle through 1-2-3-4-5 then it's pretty much guaranteed to stay at 22-24 mpg, however quickly cycle through 1-2-3-5 and it will bring up your average in the 27 mpg range. This by itself has been the biggest increase in fuel economy.

Try to get the car to coast as much as possible in gear- it burns no fuel thus upping your mpg.

When your speed decreases from coasting try to feather the throttle on flat or downhill roads, your computer will read 40-60 mpg while accelerating, if you do it on an up hill with even a feathers touch it drops to low/mid twenties.

Lastly by feathering the throttle (keeping car out of boost) will net you in the high 20's.

Right now my car has 2000 miles and I am getting between 27-31 mpg in just the city. So things should improve quite a bit for you. 30-31 if I'm driving like a grandma and 27-29 if I'm driving and accelerating identical to traffic around me.

Hope this can work for you as it did for me.

Popular Mechanics did an acceleration/cruise test on multiple cars a couple of years ago.
Some people 'jack-rabbit' up to speed...others pretend they have an egg under their foot.
PM found that to maximize mpgs, a fast non-tire burning acceleration was best to get up to speed so that you are in the highest most-efficient gear as soon as possible. Adjust for traffic ahead so that you get through signal lights without having to stop. Don't slam on the brakes to stop...let your speed drop gently if possible.

I'm getting 27-29 on my 50 mile commute to work everyday. I try to get into 6th as quickly as possible and tend to shift around 2500-2750 rpm 1-5. I won't touch 6th until I'm around 60mph...55mph at the very least.

My gas mileage has vastly improved and I've only got 1040 miles on my car. :)

Ive got a manual EB with the 3.55's/PP and its probably the heaviest model considering just about every option box was checked off:

Driving to be 'the front of the pack' and enjoying the boost, a few easygoing stints in between, mixed city/highway driving, I averaged 18-19

Driving easy all the time with a few exit ramp or passing blasts (a couple per 20+ minute trip), again otherwise driving easy (70-75ish max, right lane, early shifting, feathering the gas) net me a tank average of 24.3 (again a good mix of city/highway). I was actively trying to drive easy and watch mileage, but even then I still could have been driving slower; I was no old grandma. That still included a few short hard launches and a couple times where I idled stationary for like 10 minutes. No sport mode, just normal.

You must train yourself to drive easy and its not that bad once you make it a habit. Take advantage of the 4 cylinder underhood and stay out of the boost, it makes it that much more fun when your in it and you will average mid-20's for mileage. I also ditched the 19's and summer tires for a set of all season 18's that overall save almost 30lbs of unsprung weight compared to the PP setup, probably helped for a mpg, but I am confident I would have still gotten 24 with the 19s.

If it makes you happy, I rented a 2013 V6 auto and averaged around 22-23 over a week of relatively brisk highway driving. I am confident the EB can meet and even barely exceed the V6's mileage

On my GTI, on a daily basis, I would MAYBE go 50% throttle (was much faster than this car)

I never needed more on my daily commute -- most I'd do is 75% (still hard acceleration)

That made it a blast when I did need to go WOT. Loved it. This car I can't wait -- once I get a tune I'm sure I'll do much less of the heavier throttle... simply because it won't need it.
