When I got my EcoBoost Premium, I was using 87 Octane. I did that for the first 1,000 miles. I then started reading on the forums that most people were using 93 Octane.

I was averaging about 26 MPG using 87 Octane. I waited until I was down to just a few miles to go on empty and then filled up with 93 Octane. I have now driven over 50 miles and am only getting 18.5 MPG.

Any advice? Why would my miles per gallon drop so much? I do live in the city but my driving habits haven't changed that much.

Are you Auto or Manual? Do you have the Performance Package 3.55 gears? Do you drive in Sport + or track mode a lot? Where do you get your 93?

It's an Automatic. I don't have the PP or anything other than the stock gears. I tried the Sport mode when I first got it briefly but I haven't done that in a while and definitely not since I filled up with the 93 Octane. Again, this is my daily driver and I just drive it to and from work and when getting around town. The gas was purchased at a Thorntons near where I live in Tampa, FL.

Kodiak try doing a reset on the gauge in your information display. That seems to work for me to get a refresh.

I refresh Trip 1 every time I fill up. Is that what you are talking about?

No, try refreshing under the next screens down. "30 minute fuel mpg history" and see if that'll change. I like using this as it's current history.

Kodiak: I had exactly the same experience with my 2015 EB premium. 34-37 mpg on the highway, high 20's urban driving. At about 1,100 miles, mpgs dropped by 10-15% and stayed there. Same type of driving...same gas. I thought I would experience the opposite effect when the engine finally was 'broken in".

I was getting around that with the factory tune on 93. I was getting 19.6 with Bama race, 22.3 with Unleashed, 22.6 Tune+ Economy, 17-18ish Tune plus full power.

Alright...when I used the last 30 minutes...it's showing 26-27 MPG...so something odd must have happened with the last time I reset the trip and how it's calculating. Thanks for the idea.

you cant compare 50 miles. Talk to us after a few tanks. Too many variables in 50 miles.
