Remember I live in Florida and it is really flat. Those numbers are if I want to keep the MPG up

I think if my car was in neutral idling down a hill, I would not get that high of an average. lmao

6th in a 3.73 geared car doesn't bog until under 50 mph.

Yippee! The #s being thrown around are the same I see guys without FI throwing around. I take it to mean there is no loss in MPG due to adding a supercharger. That's awesome! For the record I'm getting 15.8 mpg in my stock (without supercharger) GT, sounds like it will end up about the same once I go FI, so stoked.

I did lose a little after putting my Paxton on but it was negligible. My second trip meter has never been reset and is showing 17.6 average. When I driver around town, I get 15-16 and on the big road I get around 23-25 depending on speeds. I honestly think I could get much better around town and on the highway if my low and part throttle were leaned out a little. I have strong fuel smells at idle and slow speeds coming from the exhaust and also have a lot of black soot around my exhaust tips and along the rear-end of the car.

A quick side question for the 6 speed manual guys, with the Whipple tune... Is your 6th gear Compleeeetely useless until you hit like 70MPH? I know 6th gear is always pretty useless, and gives no "power". But my 6th gear is literally un-usable unless I am at least doing 70 MPH and on flat land. The slightest of slope and I must down shift to 5th. Otherwise the car bogs down and has the sound/feel of when you're "flooding" it. It's not a complaint, as I rarely am on the highway, but I am curious if it's just me. It feels like maybe they completely pulled timing or something. Kinda sucks when you're in that in-between speed, like 60 or so. Where 5th gear is hovering close to 3k RPM... but theres noway I can get into 6th or the car bogs down terribly.
6th is an OD gear and the 5.0L is not a great torque machine. So if you are lugging it at 1200-1500rpm, your not gonna get a lot of torque. The further you are away from peak torque RPM, the slower the acceleration rate will be, especially with an OD gear. In stock from, the car has trouble in that area even picking up a mph or two at first hit.

One thing when comparing MPG, you need to discuss actual power. Can't compare a 550hp to a 700 or compare to a 800hp engine. To 100% the power of the engine, in general, it will need double the amount of fuel. When you add pumping losses and possibly safer Lambda numbers, your now increasing it 10-20%. Therefore, it comes down to how much power you actually use during your driving cycle.

Some other factors, injector type (bigger injectors atomize worse and have more wall wetting), when one goes into PE, charge motion plates vs none, cam positions, etc. The fact is, when everyone wants more power, more power, it normally takes more fuel.

Any one remember the Top Gear episode, when they run a Prius flat out around the race track. They then follow it with a M3. The M3 got better gas mileage than the Prius. The Prius was working its nuts off to the BMW just loafing around the track. I think it has more to do with the way you drive, than horsepower.

^^^^Agreed^^^^^ That is why I mentioned the average HP usage earlier (of course I made that term up)

I have to be above 2k RPM for the car to respond at all in 6th. Otherwise, hitting the gas, I will literally not speed up at all. Not a complaint, as I veryyy rarely use 6th anyways. I was just curious if that was just how it feels for everyone. In stock form 6th wasn't very useful... but at least had a little power. Now, if I am below 2k, I better be going downhill or I am slowing down while on the gas. The exhaust note even drastically changes. It feels and sounds like someone is standing over a carburated car and pouring gas down it. I know it's not really flooding or anything.. it's just the best way to describe the "feel". I assumed the tune just pulls a ton of timing out of it in 6th.
