Have any of you replaced your stock plug with replacement Motorcraft plugs yet? The originals are sp- 519 and replacements are sp-548

I believe The 519 is an iridium plug and 548 is a platinum model. If you switched did you notice any difference in idle or performance?

I can not find the 519s anywhere and before I do the 548 I wanted to see others experiences

Well, you're not nearly confused enough yet... here let me help you.

If you go to the parts.ford.com website, you'll find the following plugs for your 2017 Voodoo engine:

SP-548 (as you found)
SP-590 (at a considerable price premium over the 548 - this might be the new iridium plug)

If you punch in the 2020 Voodoo engine, you get those two plus two more (ie- 4 to choose from):

SP-581 (the 2020 Predator/2020 Voodoo plug listed in the 2020 Owner's Supplements)
SP-581X (it's on the list, but it's not clear what the "X" means)

So, now you have a wide array of Motorcraft plugs to choose from.

If it were me, I'd take a close look at the 590. IIRC, the 2020 Voodoo/Predator engine has higher energy ignition coils and the 581 plugs might have a wider gap that may not work so well with the original coils.

You might also want to do some searching for @honeybadger posts on NGK plugs, which are available in platinum, iridium and ruthenium versions.

Just changed my plugs today(16 GT350 with 27k miles). They were original and iridium’s and I put in the 548ā€˜s which are indeed platinum. Car ran like it always has and the old plugs looked great(light brown/gray across all 8).

Iridium has a melting temp of around 4,000 degrees. That should last a long time for high-temp applications. In regular cars, you can get 100K miles due to the lack of breakdown due to high temps.

So why did you swap them out (soo early)?

Mostly to get a good look at them. I’ve always figured if I take the time to remove them(although this engine is about as east as it gets) I might as well put new ones in. Thankfully they were all extremely consistent without any oil, white powder etc. Just a light brown gray.

I didnt even realize they were platinum until I took them out fo the box to check gap. I don’t really care as I doubt there is really any significant difference. This is just a fun car for me on nights and weekends.
