Well put my built trans in this saturday and when i startex it up with the exhaust off noticed the passenger side header had a little coolant in it.So im pretty sure i either lifted a head or cracked a head gasket.Car runs fine but i.am going to put head studs on both heads and new gaskets. My question is for guys that have done new head gaskets what did you use??Stock or cometic??I know l&m says to use cometic but is that just because the block is sleeved or is really a better gasket??

I used Cometics for years in other applications and have mixed feelings about MLS gaskets. I would be reluctant to put them on without verifying the factory finish on the heads and block are sufficient for the Cometics... they require a near perfect head/deck finish or they will leak. Once they seal they are mostly bulletproof which means if something goes wrong you will likely find your next weakest link. I used them in turbo fed applications up to 30 psi and they always held but I did have them initally leak a couple of times even with the proper head/block prep. May not be an issue on the Coyote to the extent I had it but some things to consider.

I was 16 to 17 pounds on the 4.38 pulley for the short period i had that pulley on.I am running e85.I put the 4.5 pulley back on after my trans broke and its making close to 16 pounds with pulley. Its a procharger d1,car has been 9.7 at 143 but have not got a real pass with smaller pulley and new intake.2018 intake manifold.

Damn dude. Your having your self a run here lately. I’d use the stock gasket again.

What pulley for the 9.7@143
Hopefully it's a quick and easy resolution for you and the head gasket

Stock head gasket is plenty fine. It's bolt stretch that leads them to fail. Not on a coyote, but I've seen Ford MLS gaskets on a 5.4 at 28lbs survive nicely.

Agreed. I ran them on my 95gt with a 300 shot of nitrous and never had an issue.

Stock gaskets are fine. ARP head studs are the magic here.
