Hi. I took my Mustang GT to my nearest dealer for an Oil/oul filter Change early November 2019. Dealer suggested air filter change which I declined as I can do that myself. Shortly after I stored the car for the winter.

Pulled car out of storage early May 2020. Since the service I have accumulated 477miles. Today I noticed the air filter box was slightly opened and when I checked air filter is missing.

I have contacted the dealer, but reaching out here if I should be concerned about any dust debris that may have gotten into engine, should I be worry about engine damage? should I have any service done ti engine as precautionary measures?

Any advice is appreciated. Thanks

That sucks. Just another reason I do all of my own maintenance and mods. I'm sure your engine is fine. Throw a new filter in and enjoy your car.

Yes got a filter from O’Reilly’s and cleaned the air box. Also sent a strong email to the owner of the dealership, as he knows me since I have purchased cars from them for 20 years. And in 20 years this has been the first time they failed me.

Completely depends on the environment you’ve been running the car in.
If it was proper dusty, I’d be a little concerned.
Although, on the bright side, you wouldn’t have to worry so much about your rings snagging...

If it were me I'd pull plugs and get a scope in there. Look for marring on the cylinder walls.
The last dealer who changed my oil cross threaded the drain plug all the way in, probably with an impact because it took all the muscle I could muster to back the plug out. I called the dealer to complain and the guy was like, uh ok bring it in and we'll inspect it. I told him hell no, nobody there is touching it if they couldn't even put a drain plug back correctly. I told them to buy me a new drain pan and after I inspect everything I'll send him a parts list of other things to buy me. Luckily the burrs of metal from the drain plug stuck to the plug and I didn't find any damage. That's what I'd do if I were you. Inspect the cylinder walls and send them a bill from a completely different shop if you have damage. Call the regional rep if they give you grief.

Dump the oil and you're likely fine.

Why folks take their cars to a dealer for service is beyond me! I wouldn't let those hacks touch my car. when they offered me free oil changes for life I said no, I change my own oil.
