Anyone ever miss a shift from 2nd into 5th obviously by mistake? I thought I blew off a charge pipe when it happened. Probably would have been better if that were the case.

The other day I did not put it into gear correctly and it popped out of gear, and made a huge bang noise, I thought for sure I left the tranny behind lol

I got into mine after 4 months of driving my 5 speed Escape I tried to put it into reverse then remembered and had it in 6th.

I have a question as well. Sometimes when I am driving and up shifting not doing anything crazy it feels like the car is downshifting. It seems like the car doesn't know to hold the rpm for the next gear and when I put it in the next gear the rpm are to low so it revs up to where it should be of that makes sense. Any ideas what is going on with it?

So you were going from 2nd to 5th or 3rd but ended up going 5th?
As long as you are not going into 2nd when going over 60mph you will be fine.

You are shifting too slow.
Given how many people complain about the rev hang, it must've taken you like 2 seconds to shift.

^ see the thing is in not shifting to slow it happens rarely and I don't know the cause. And I was going for 3rd from 2nd flatfoot shifting and somehow manage to jam it in 5th instead which is why when I started going in 5th I thought I blew a charge pipe off due to lack of response. I pulled it out of gear quick and put it back in fifth bc I was going about 70 at this point and kept driving bc I didn't know what happened but when I checked datalog I saw what happened.

And I agree it takes forever for the rpm to drop normally. But I have gotten used to timing it no problem.

I have done 4-5 ended up in 3 at high speeds like 60mph. Rpm shot up but not red lined.
Autos are much easier.

Won't do anything significant, little clutch burn. Just don't go from 5th to 2nd that would possibly =:brokenheart:

Shifting from 2nd to 5th is not a problem as long as you are going above 32 mph on 3.73 gears. I once in a while start on second gear and shift to 5th then 6th to see the highest mpg on the dash lol. The user manual tells you speeds that you can use for each gear if i remember right. Just be sure not to downshift above the rpm limit of any gear.
