I am currently running bbk catted long tubes x pipe and borla ataks. i love the sound and zero drone when cruising. only issues are cold starts early in the morning and trying to accelerate quietly when i need to be. i have contemplated switching to an active setup and wanted some insight as to what would be my best bet to get a quiet cold start, zero drone, and then flip a switch for race car.
I have considered buying the gt350 mufflers but worry the "quiet" mode would still be too crazy. Anyone have any insight or any other axle backs that would offer what im looking for?

You can't just buy GT350 mufflers and have a 'quiet mode'

You need to buy a full active exhaust setup to do that.. Maybe some QTP cutouts and put a resonator in with mufflers, then you can have loud & quiet at the flip of a switch.

by quiet mode i meant the less aggressive of the two modes, and when buying gt350 mufflers majority of the ones people are selling still have all of the motors with them so its simply wiring them in and putting a switch wherever you want. I guess im a little confused when you say a full active exhaust setup?

Cold starts are always going to be loud it seems from what I have found with a ton of setups. I ended up welding in two 12” resonators on my H pipe which helped a ton with sound. Still loud but takes the edge off. Unfortunately there are not a lot of good options for active exhaust which is a shame especially just ABs.

almost all of the active setups i have found are only offered as catbacks and are over $2,000. I saw the Varex mufflers but unsure how good they are.

Even with an active exhaust and quiet mode, the initial sound of a cold start is still very loud before quieting down.

BRAHHhhhhhhhhhh

Like that.

AHhh ok I always thought it was
Bllllllaaaaa blap blap blap blap
Braaahh makes more sense.
I’ll probably just end up starting it with the garage door shut to make the initial bit slightly quieter.

You could cut the tips off your mufflers then put in stock 2015 GT mufflers probably- may need custom hangers, then weld the tips on, then also add in some QTP cutouts. Im not 100% sure if this would work but I think the 2015 mufflers are alot quieter. I know for a fact that the stock 2011 gt mufflers are alot quieter but idk about fitment with those.

Borla S-type AB's will take the edge off and still be aggressive w/o being too much. Cold starts are what they are with anything but stock or "touring" type mufflers.

thanks for the input. I do not want to go the cutout route. I have been reading on the varex mufflers and everyone who has them is swearing by them saying even with headers valves closed is very close to stock with a resonator delete. I have some time to think about it and decide as i will be going to some training here in a few months and getting a new duty station so i dont mind pissing off these neighbors for a little while longer.
