I am looking to buy a shifter. I was set on the Barton but I see a lot of people have chosen MGW over the Barton. I see that MGW has push down reverse and although I rather have the pull up reverse I can manage with the push down. This is my MT car and every manual car before has never been push down. My question is how possible is it to accidentally shift into reverse and does it require a lot of effort to push down reverse ? Thanks

Definitely not possible to do it by accident. Now that I've had the mgw for about 8 months, I prefer the push down.

I've had MGW Gen 1 and Gen 2 in 2011 GT never got in reverse by accident.

Even my 1976 Cobra II 302 factory 4 speed was push down to get into reverse. Never had issue with it either when it was install T5 in it now.

No way. I've had mine for several months and I've never gotten close to reverse- it takes a good amount of pressure.

Just pull the trigger and get one. You're going to love just pushing the shifter forward going for 3rd gear.
