This part of the conclusions Objectively, the four-cylinder Mustang ticks a lot of boxes. It’s quick enough and reasonably frugal, it looks brilliant, is an enjoyable drive and good value for money. Is what I agree with.

Then you get the common negatives most journos write about this car. But, equally, it’s a tough car to recommend, as the engine can’t cash the cheque written by that Detroit styling.
If we were buying a Mustang, the V8 is well worth the extra, but if you really want a great sporty four-cylinder Ford, buy a Focus RS.

I thought the Focus RS was a (Very) Hot Hatch?

A friend of mine who put down a deposit on a Focus RS drove his mate's one on the weekend.

Reckons that out of the box, it's the most capable car he's ever driven and he's had a lot of toys.

He's confused because he's got no idea what he'll mod once he gets it haha

Reckons the engine is so linear and the turn in and grip so sharp that he'll just leave it be.

How's Ford's product line up at the moment. Ballistic.

Seen Matt Farah's 'review' of his own RS? He seems to like it - does have a couple of 'suggestions' that you can glean from his review (can't remember off-hand).

The sales guy I'm dealing with at Ford has put his name down for an RS as well, currently has an ST and wants to go the RS. I was talking to him about it and the Mustang - he reckons the Mustang is a better looking car (can't disagree there), but the RS is really a better allrounder.

Now if only they could do a *just before death* facelift of the Falcon, so it didn't look stupid - then maybe they'll could sell a few before they die off!

One thing JJ touched on in this video that I'd really love to have is remote start. Coming from a car now that has it I will really miss it. I know it's an option with the Yanks but not here from what I could tell so far. I will be asking my dealer when it comes down to finalising everything if it's an option but I know I'll be disappointed.

Have to agree. The Focus RS is a great car and I'm sure it will be a hoot to drive. But for someone looking for a coupe it doesn't really suit (hint - it has too many doors).

And apparently the ecoboost Mustang looks too good? Should they make it look crappier because it doesn't have the top-of-the-range engine?

How come they don't write this kind of rubbish when reviewing other non top-of-the range cars - say a Golf GTI, Subaru WRX, etc ? Sorry the Subaru WRX is rubbish because the Subaru WRX STI exists so you should by a BRZ - dumb.

Not everyone has the extra $12.5 K to spend but is still attracted to the overall package. I'm very much looking forward to my ecoboost Mustang and so glad I test drove it.
