Yum! I really like the look of this car.

It's almost sad that Fiat has a car sharing the platform...because the MX-5 looks WAY better...and will undoubtedly cost WAY less.

I traded my 2015 MX-5 Club with Power Retractable Hard Top for my GTPP Mustang. It was a fun car and I'm sure the new generation is even better with all the weight they shaved off. With that said, the car is very underpowered. Felt so weak, even after throwing everything I could at it short of FI. Car feels faster than it is going, specially around twisties, but definitely does not fulfill the need for that "acceleration feel."

Yep, I'd buy that. But someone should tell the demo guy to smile a little, sheesh. Looks like he just found out he has diarrhea.

1. More like he doesn't want to be seen as a car driver for an auto show.

2. Should have been a female model in the driver seat

My girlfriend wants to buy one, which means that my job is to make her want the 6spd manual version...which has nothing to do with the fact that I want to flog it around Sears Point.

I want one of these with the 2.5 from the Mazda6 or most definitely the motor in the new CX-9. I think the RF is an absolutely beautiful roadster.

Beautiful? Yes. Will it fall prey to the issue that the BRZ and FR-S had? Absolutely. Both cars are driver's cars, but there will always be a hunger for more power. I drove an FR-S for almost 3 years, and while it had unmatched handling, the looks didn't match the speed. Some people love the low power / insanely light well handing cars. It was fun for a while till you are struggling to get past minivans.

Turbocharging these cars is also difficult because of the high compression. High boost was possible on e85 but they're ticking time bombs. Just like any car though, the tune is crucial. Even spending the 10 grand turbocharging a 25k car puts you in Mustang GT territory and its still faster than a turbo FR-S.

I was honestly hoping for a Mazdaspeed 3 announcement along with many other enthusiasts. Using the AWD from the CX-3 and the 2.5L Skyactiv Turbo from the CX-9. I do love Mazda's philosophy but they are drifting away from it and becoming a better looking version of Toyota appealing to the eco and reliable crowd.

I agree with you there. I considered a brz and took one on a drive. That dead spot in 2nd or 3rd gear (can't remember which now, been a while) was awful. It was a blast to drive but I couldn't see myself driving it daily.

Just can't get enuff!
I like the MX-5 formula of focusing primarily on dynamics such as handling and balance more than just brute power but I do agree that at least another 50hp would help. In any case I still like it! Btw the new RF is gaining accolades already. :clap2:

Need a tune and header to correct it. The dreaded torque dip is what you're talking about at 2k rpm possibly due to getting better fuel economy around that range on a factory tune.

Lets also not forget about the chirping fuel pump either. 3+ years later, its still happening on all models. Acura is having this problem on their MDX as well too with DI.
