Went into my dealership today to buy out the lease on my 2020 Explorer ST.

The crooks added a $500 dollar mark up, a $895 doc fee and a $300 state inspection. I told them where they could stick it. Their explanation was that all dealerships put mark up on lease buy outs; not true btw. Huntersville Ford in NC, shame on you.

I’ve never bought out a lease and I’ve only done two in my life which I will never do again but when you signed your lease, there should’ve been a buy option price on it that you both signed. I would take them to court.

Thankfully I can complete the buy out at any dealership. This stealership just lost a regular customer.

You could probably take them to court over that. State laws vary, but Florida dealers are currently getting hammered over lease buyout fees.

The lawsuit is over the fact that these fees would have been required in the original sales agreement, but were not. Similar thing for ā€œreconditioningā€ fees, etc.

What a crock. I bought my wife an St when they were first coming out and covid started. Ford had them at 9kish off msrp back then if memory serves me correct. Great price and still a great suv. Did need exhaust though. Way to quiet.

I like them a lot, was looking pretty hard a few months ago at trading my GT for one. It checks a lot of boxes. But, I didn’t.

I ended up buying from another dealer for a $599 doc fee. I would have paid a $395 disposition fee if I didn't buy it, so its a wash.
