Yikes, but that looks like a backfire from the additional fueling not pressure. Similar thing happened to Russel's Fiesta ST. This usually happens during scavenging scheduling with the VCT.

Yes, we were running out of fuel, and at 36 PSI.

Just to be clear, the backfire is because of the valve timing differences between a direct injection engine and port injection?

That at least is my suspicion, and would also mean you shouldn't typically need a metal manifold since a backfire isn't optimal no matter what and would be developed out/removed.

Designing a new I.M. with ported runners, larger plenum and injection ports though...could be nice =D

Where is the car at all ready

This car is still under the knife/tuner's hands. As far as the manifold, we are going to try stock again. The reason for this manifold's failures are still being analyzed but a majority of the findings are from previous abuse as well as extreme torsion from less than rigid engine mounts.

Update videos coming fairly soon! Our new built block format, billet intake manifold with e85 capacity, T4 kit, and more are hitting the dyno shortly. I promise by the end of June, we will again be holding records, breaking new ground, revealing product groups, and more. Thank you all for your patience!
