Map light housing

I bought a used 2021 convertible. Driving down the road the map light housing (map lights, convertible top switch, seatbelt light) just dropped and hung by the wires. Apparently, the prior owner had broken one of the tabs that hold it in. Anyone know where I can but a new housing?

I attempted to remove my cover as well, and when the forces got to where I thought I'd break something I backed off. So it is not surprising that the prior owner broke something. If I really knew how to remove one, I'd check a junk yard, but I don't, so in my case I would look to our forum advertiser @LevittownFordParts to see if they can help.

I would need your VIN to identify the part number but from what I can see this will include the header panel as well.

It's a standalone assy can get from recyclers. They are a pita to remove especially if don't have trim removal tool.

eBay. Just find the part number on the current one and look for a replacement.

Is it possible the root problem is simply that one of the spring clips is missing? It could be a metal clip, based on the pic below, but functionally you can get plastic clips off Amazon, if that is the root cause of your problem.

Yes or a tear out of the plastic prong which does occur in my experience thank you soldering iron and JB plastiweld.

The spring clips are still there. The tip of one of the plastic tabs that slide into the metal clips is broken off. The metal clips are still attached to the header panel. They are not attached to the plastic tabs of the fixture as pictured above.

No you cannot, Its serviced as one assembly from Ford.

Such was the concern that prevented me from removing my light housing it seemed excessive force was necessary. From the pic shown earlier, I now know where to place housing removal tools to prevent what @exvette is dealing with. But you have what you have, so let's look at options.

You may be able to obtain a plastic piece that can be melded to/alongside the existing damaged plastic tab. You might want to experiment with adhesives. Melding is much better than gluing. I've successfully used superglue to meld ABS sheet I've purchased off Amazon to other broken ABS components. Not sure what the housing plastic type is, but maybe you can experiment with adhesives that bond well, and fabricate a replacement tab.

As you probably already learned, our convertible housings are different than coupes, where in addition to an air bag status light, we have a switch for opening/closing the roof. So that will making a robust repair a more lucrative option if repair is possible.

BTW...the pic in the eBay photo that I got a snapshot of appears to have one of the tabs broken off like yours. So beware when looking at used eBay items, or items from junk yards.
