Hi everyone,
I've owned my 2019 GT for about 2 years now and one of my first mods I did was change the interior lights with LED's from Diode Dynamics. When I did that, I broke the old map light assembly (not sure how, guessing I pushed one of the lights in too hard or incorrectly) and one of the lights stopped turning on. I had also broken off one of the tabs (as I've read is a common problem). I decided I would buy an unbroken one and got one from a 2016 Mustang used off of E-Bay. I understand that there was a model refresh between the 2017 and 2018 model years but the map light assemblies looked almost identical. I noticed that the plastic molding that held in the plug to the rest of the harness was slightly different but everything else was the same as the map light assembly from the 2019. I installed it almost 1.5 years ago and never had any problems.
Recently, I took in my car to the dealer for a minor service and the tech notified me that the car had thrown a code that points to the map light assembly. I was not told the exact code but I've never had that issue before. Is there a known difference between the 2016 and 2019 map light assemblies that could an issue? If not, would it be best to just keep an eye out for the code? I do have an OBDII reader but haven't had a reason to use it until now. I plan to check that everything is properly connected this weekend, but just wanted to see if anyone had ever encountered this issue before here as I couldn't find anything online.
Thanks.
