Manufacturer Incentives and Zip Code

I'm looking at a vehicle from an out of state Ford dealer so I requested OTD price before TT&L. They guy asked the zip it would be titled in and gave me a price for my zip and for the zip of the location he is located and sent me an email saying that manufacturer incentives are based on the zip of where the vehicle is titled and not where it is purchased. Is this true? I don't understand how it can be considering how many people travel out of state for better deals.

I would think all incentives are the same nationwide. Some people have been able to score more but I would think its because in their areas mustangs are not that popular.

You can check yourself in the incentive section of Ford and see if its different but I would say no.

There are definitely different incentives for different areas and the amounts the dealer gave me are spot on with what Ford is advertising for these particular areas (and there is a difference of $2500 believe it or not). I'm questioning whether the incentives the dealer can offer me are based on where the vehicle is titled vs where it is purchased. It's not like I would have the out-of-state dealer deliver the vehicle to me--I would drive to the dealer and pick it up.

Edit: Gave Ford corporate a call and they're telling me it's based on titling zip code. I guess there is no incentive for me to expand the car search out of state.
