Sorry if this has already been posted, but I just ordered a 2016 GT with the 6 speed manual. The thing is this is my first car so I've never owned or even driven a manual before. How's this car to learn on? Just wondering about the clutch and gears plus just nervous in general to pick up and learn to drive it. I'll have someone with me when I get it who knows how to drive a stick but of course I want to drive it off the lot. Any advice?

Try to practice some in a beater car if you can to pick up the basics. The 5.0L V8 has lots of low end torque, so driving the manual is easy. Disregard the squirrely comments above. ;)

Rev it up to 3k and disengage the clutch quickly, don't worry, it has a clutch assist spring.

Seriously though, don't do this:

Ahh finally a real answer! The only problem is none of my buddies have a manual so I can't practice before hand

Find an empty parking lot and practice stop and go. Get a feel for the clutch friction point. 5.0 + 3.73 should be harder to stall.

This is probably the easiest manual car I ever drove. Its actually hard to stall. Comes with hill assist and creep mode. Clutch is smooth. You'll be fine.

Sweet thanks for the info. My biggest worry is just getting it off the lot and going through the gears for the first time.

My mustang was the first manual transmission car I ever owned. I knew the concept of driving manual cars but never really practiced before I got it. I suggest finding a friend with a manual transmission car that can let you practice on. I used my girlfriends manual fiat to practice for about an hour o_O

Haha awesome. I've watched a bunch of videos on driving a manual but that obviously doesn't do nearly as much as going out and driving one. I just hope I don't destroy anything the first day!

Did you get used to the whole manual thing within the hour or were you still a little iffy when you got the mustang? I wonder how long it will take me to actually feel comfortable driving a stick

I wouldn't consider this car to have a lot of low end torque. It really doesn't come alive until 4k rpm

How do you make it do "creep mode"? Nothing in the OM about it.
