I noticed the thud when going into 2nd and 3rd gears. Not that I care about it that much but I just discovered that it doesn't do it when I double clutch.
Hi Ryan,

Sounds like your Pony's stomping her hooves. Have you spoken to your dealer about the tantrum yet? Send over the mileage. I'll see how I can help. :)

Anyone else's manual transmission make a rotational noise through the shifting boot? It's not super loud, but loud enough to be annoying after a while. Mine has done this since day one and seems to slowly be getting louder with 2,500 miles on it. I hate for my dealer to rip it apart if it's a common noise. It's with the clutch engaged, in any gear at a steady speed/rpm. Just sounds like the gears in the tranny rotating.

Jeff, I sent a PM.

Since this thread has been around for a while has anyone else who's had this noticed it getting much better after putting on some miles?

Im at 3,000 miles and I don't really notice anymore. Maybe once or twice if Im paying attention. The thing is when I go WOT I notice no driveline shock or thudding. That is what Id be concerned about.

Nope. Mine is super quiet. No feedback at all thru the shifter boot.

Thanks for the feedback. I haven't even listened for it at WOT, I guess my mind was on other things. I'm thinking a good cure might be a louder exhaust. ;)

I believe the whiteline insert addresses this issue...
In my case I didn't hear a thud until I installed the whiteline mount ... Now I hear it loud and clear ...

Does the noise almost sound like a small hint of wind through a tunnel?

Not anything like a wind noise. Sounds like you can hear the gears/tranny parts rotating. Not a metallic sound, more like a plastic rotational noise. When you push in the clutch the noise goes 90% away. If you push in the clutch and rev the motor you can still barely hear it. Possibly clutch component. It has been there since day one but seems to be a little louder now. Very puzzling and nothing like I've ever heard on a stick shift car...and I was a mechanic back in the day.

The noise level matches the RPM too. Windows up, blower down to hear better.

Hey Ryan1112,

Replied to your PM this afternoon. I recommend having this diagnosed by the dealer, as opposed to waiting. They'll be best able to advise on the issue.

Jeff :ford:

So, is Ford going to diagnose hundreds of cars before for no reason if it's "normal" operation? Over 90 % of GT's and specially those with PP are experiencing this in some way. I understand its first year problems or issues, but the MT-82 has been around for the whole s197 generation and now in s550. Can we just get a simple answer from Ford as yes, this is normal or no, this is an issue?
