In the UK brochure this is one of the things that is listed as standard.

I always thought Xenons had automatic self levelling - is this not the case with the Mustang?

Sorry but Mustang does NOT have Xenon lights. It has UID.
that's why it does NOT have water repellents on the bumper.

The brochure states Xenon.

All the Euro cars - including ours - have 25W D8S Xenon bulbs, so everyone is right. They are rated at 2,000 lumens rather than the 3,2000 lumens "proper" 35W D3S bulbs used in the US.

As they are "lower output" then they don't need auto-levelling and washers - that saved Ford a bit of money, didn't it!

Can 35w bulbs be fitted in place of the 25w ones? I appreciate that might not be legal without the auto-levelling/washers.

Apparently the bulbs are not interchangeable as the sockets are different... But "anything" is possible I guess....
But the headlamps should be the "same" construction as the US ones are so heat should not be a problem.... How much are xenon bulbs? I do recall one of my previous cars had them and they were "dealer service" only for some reason.

$80/pair. I imagine the stock bulbs are bright enough...

Xenon in my Audi blew the day after it's MOT and service. Dealer fit only and list of ÂŁ150. I booked it in and sat sipping the coffee whilst they did it thinking it was the most expensive one I ever had! Could have knocked me down with a feather when the chap handed my key back and said" no charge sir".

.........because there can be a squizillion volts hanging about if you don't discharge them first. HID lamps are not 12v.
