I previously had issues with the catalytic converters on my 2020 Mustang GT, so I replaced them with two 2.25-inch MagnaFlow universal catalytic converters. I chose this size because I understood it would be more than adequate for the airflow produced by the Coyote 5.0 exhaust system.
After the installation, the car ran for about two weeks without triggering the check engine light. However, the light eventually returned, and the diagnostic code suggests that the catalytic converters may be restricting exhaust flow or causing an airflow-related issue. It feels like the exhaust gases are not flowing out as freely or efficiently as they should.
At this point, I am considering removing the catalytic converters and running the exhaust pipes directly from the headers. Since I live in the Dominican Republic, where there are currently no emissions inspections or regulations requiring catalytic converters, I would not face any legal issues by removing them.
My main concern is avoiding recurring check engine lights related to the catalytic converter sensors. What options would you recommend to prevent catalytic converter-related codes from appearing? Are there any reliable solutions such as O2 sensor spacers, simulators, tuning solutions, or other alternatives that can help avoid these errors?
I don't want the light on for missing catalytic converters because it might confuse me with some other car problem and alert me through the check engine light.
