Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone had managed to locate a source for an OEM Mach 1 RHD strut tower brace. Or aware if there is no intention to produce any in RHD. Apologies if this has been raised in another thread. Many thanks.

Are the RHD handling packages not coming with one on the cars being shipped down under ?

Not yet. Nobody seems to have the part number available. All the handling pack item part numbers are known, but the strut number is missing.

The UK export cars do not have strut braces due to Homologation and Pedestrian safety laws.

export cars for Germany market have the strut brace. Not sure if you were refering to only UK or export as a whole.

UK, I've corrected my original post.

BUT the UK has the same homologation laws as the EU (they were all carried over at Brexit) so is there something about the RHD cars that mean the layout is a problem under the bonnet meaning they cannot be fitted? It can't be the brace per se or they would fail homologation in the rest of the EU

There is an issue with LHD drive not fitting in the RHD vehicles. When looking at CJ Pony parts for example it explicitly says will only fit LHD drive vehicles. My Mach 1 is still a few weeks away by boat and trying to source a few parts that I know are missing. There are obviously other Ford performance ones for RHD but was hoping for the specific Mach 1.

Very jealous of guys in the US. Makes me wonder if it’s a scale of economies thing for some parts that are not like for like and require new / modified parts out of the factory for RHD production. Having said that that am very pleased they are making RHD production vehicles !

The LHD strut tower brace doesn't fit right on RHD due to K brace clearance issue. Its not really a big deal, you just need to grind away a bit of material on the brace and then it fits perfectly. I recommend one as it not only looks hot but does improve front end handling.

RHD cars either need 8mm spacers under the brace (as supplied in the Ford kits) or they need the grinding mod shown above to clear the RHD cowl brace.

The ally 350r brace will also fit, here is the grinding mod on one of those, both sides shown for comparison :

And if you don't fancy grinding strength away from the brace, the other way to mount is to add washers under the brace. 5mm thick on the near side, 10mm on the off-side.

Honestly you're hardly grinding strength away give the small amount of material you take off. You could put washers but I'd rather have it bolted straight down onto the k brace and tower just to make sure there is no potential movement with washers..... each to their own though, the beauty of choice.

Another consideration for the passenger side - The locking part of the nuts won’t engage on the studs if you use the spacers :like:
