Mach 1 Gas guzzler tax!

I just saw a saw a new Mustang Mach 1 in the show room at the local dealer and this 6 speed model has a gas guzzler tax right on the window sticker. The A10 do not have the tax. The dealer could not explain it either. I assume that the 6 stick gets worse economy as compared to the A10 due to drivetrain gearing . Does the Shelby GT350 have a guzzler tax?

Yes, the GT350 comes with a $1,300.00 Gas Guzzler Tax! Your welcome EV Owners.. were supplementing the EV Tax breaks! IMO!

The June issue of Car & Driver has a road test of the Mach 1 and they mention the GGT pricing difference. The A10 gear spread must be the difference.

I was an early order for the A10 and it had the $1000 ggt on my window sticker which i was forced to pay in mid-march when I picked up the car. took me a few weeks of red tape with Ford and EPA but I got a check back from Ford for $1000 last week for their mistake.

This tax is asinine especially when you consider that you're already paying more taxes at the pump when you drive a car that needs to filled more often.

There completely different taxes used for very different purposes. The gas guzzler tax isn't even a direct tax on the consumer. The manufacture has to pay it to the IRS at the end of the year. That's why if you look at a window sticker its listed under options.
