A few weeks ago my stock clutch came apart on a high rpm shift. I was a little surprised being the car has only 22000 miles and hasn't really been abused. When I dropped the transmission it was easy to tell what the problem was.
In my opinion the clutch could of had a better design. I don't think the single row of rivets helps out at all.
After a lot of research on the different options I decided to go my own route with a fairly inexpensive clutch from Rockauto. I didn't need an overly aggressive clutch but I wanted a better clutch. I chose the 1.5X. I also don't mind being a guinea pig.

I also paired it with an Exedy lightweight flywheel and UPR steel clutch line.
Install went smooth and everything fit as it should. If you were to reuse the stock flywheel you would need step down dowel pins like what come with Exedy flywheel or you would need to drill out the dowel holes in the pressure plate to 5/16th(.3125) to accept the factory dowels. The total for all parts was under $800. After install I immediately noticed a firmer clutch pedal and much more bite. The clutch has ceramic material on 1 side so I get a little chatter in reverse and first but as I'm relearning the feel and the clutch is breaking in Its gotten better. After the break in period I've been able to get on it a bit and the shifts feel amazing. I have no more high RPM lockout and the clutch pedal always snaps right back up to were it should be. I currently have about 900 miles on the new clutch and even though I'm happy with the clutch, If I had to do it again I would probably go with the 1.0X clutch for a little smoother engagement.
