Im getting the Ford Performance CAI. Throttle Body and tune installed today on Babs. Anyone have experience with this kit? Thoughts on what I can expect?

https://performanceparts.ford.com/part/M-9603-M8B
The kit is ultra conservative for those more concerned about warranty than performance and for those that are likely not going to add any more mods requiring tune revisions. As for value there are much better bangs for your buck like tuning for e85 (if available) as its double the power for a fraction of the cost. That said you will likely see an increase of 13-17whp. However, if you have a base model without the drive modes then this tune (or any) will drive better and wake up the car. All comes down to what one is looking for.

On a 3rd gen, Ford's performance tune will be about the same as any other tuner out there. The engine is octane limited.

The other tuners might play with the demand tables and make the car "feel" faster.

E85 or race gas is the only way to get any significant increases.

If you're not married to your warranty, then I would recommend going with aftermarket intake and tuning like JLT + Lund. You'll see a much more aggressive increase in power.
That's not what Lund told me on the phone some months back. They said the 18+ GT's factory tuning was very good and they could not do much to improve it running pump gas.

Aftermarket CAI's have been hit or miss on the 18+ models as well. I tried one.

Tune for 91/93 sure. Tune for e85 is a completely different car.

Unpopular opinion: You're basically buying a stock 91+ octane tune that should've come with the car as opposed to the original 87 octane capable one that came with the car.

The throttle body and intake are mostly just fluff to sell you a "power package" and get more $ out of you. So is the "must-be dealer installed to keep warranty" thing.

It's been documented the stock parts are plenty capable at higher power levels; and in the case of the intake the stock CAI gets better IATs than the hot air one.

The claimed +42tq @ 2000 rpm are nowhere to be found.

1200 bucks and a throttle body, + tune. From a different prospective.

Installed a Roush CAI and L1 soft tune. Comparing the 2 physically & assuming the Tune will be similar. The fact the Ford includes a larger throttle body, looks pretty good.

Do like the Roush sealed air box, that is an advantage. Having a K&N, CAI on another vehicle. With an open top to hood seal, not so great. The rubber collapses/compresses over time, you can guess what that means, it's obvious .

Reading the PDF on the Ford sheet, mentions auto updates . Thinking, the hardware stays the same, throttle body & CAI what updates ? That does sound like a bit of hype
Just saying

BTW price comparison of the 2, for the most part = excluding labor, mine is free .

Installing the CIA + tune a power boost will and can be felt. Testing preformance and measured via onboard butt dyno

Enjoy

Thanks for the feedback both good and bad. Got the FP tune, etc yesterday. Butt dyno noticed a difference.

It does indeed improve drive ability. My A10 does shift better up and down.

I did notice a little torque bump around 2K on my 18 GT, HP wise I could not honestly feel it.
