LUND NGUAGE-LUND TUNE KNOCK QUESTION

I'm new to this. I purchased my car and have a Lund tune on it with the lund ngauge. I'm just curious what the knocker sensor means as far as what is good and bad for the engine?

I've read that negatives mean timing is being added and positives, of course, mean timing is being taken away. I'm pretty sure the positives are bad, however and this is my main question EVEN THOUGH NEGATIVES ARE ADDING TIMING AND MAY NOT BE CONSIDERED "BAD" ARE THEY STILL AFFECTING THE ENGINE OR OVER A PERIOD OF TIME WILL THEY BEGIN TO DAMAGE THE ENGINE?

Any type of explanation, and if you want to be extremely detailed I'm great with that too! I've googled and searched different things regarding this and can't find a clear cut answer.

Your car adding timing will not hurt it even long term, basically it's the motor realizing there is good quality gas and adds timing to take advantage of the better fuel. Basically lund leaves some timing on the table when he makes a tune, instead of trying to get every degree of timing in the tune to start getting backs it off a bit to allow the computer to adjust it how it sees fit

It is affecting the engine by increasing HP when timing is added because fuel quality allows for the added timing, that's the purpose of the knock sensors. When timing is being pulled, that means it is pinging/knocking which THAT is not good, this usually happens with poor fuel quality. You have nothing to worry about. Minus readings are good. As you stated it is adding timing at that point. Means you are not damaging the internals and car is happy. Adding can vary in different conditions ( warm weather vs cold weather) different quality of fuel, amount of load. If you see positives thats when you should be concerned

I was just coming back to ask that same question. For the first time I had some positive knocks no higher than 1.54 and it only happened when I started the car. I was extremely low on gas. I don't know if that makes a difference

I just got a Lund tune and it went from -7 to +2 knock. I'm guessing my ecu is just adapting to the tune.

Any positive is not particularly good, but you will see positives at light throttle. It's the positives at WOT that are bad.

if it's pulling timing, it's doing its job. if it's adding timing, it's doing its job.

old school without widebands, you could have been getting knock all the time and the car could do nothing about it, with the built in widebands, the car can actually adjust.

i wouldn't be concerned over a couple pulled degrees

That right there was why I gave up on tuning. I tried AED, steeda, Mike Roush, and all pulled timing; even after several revisions. I constantly data logged and every time I saw pulled timing I felt the motor was being slowly damaged.The only time it constantly didn't knock was when running pure race gas or on stock tune. Obviously not viable to run all the time.I don't think the tunes were bad, it is the horrible fuel quality in my area.
AED Shaun is a major tool but will admit his tunes felt the best.

The tunes were for my 12 and 14 gt's. My 15gt is still stock.

Like what was stated above,the main thing u have to look at it having pos knock at wot.Thats bad and needs looked at.Pos knock is normal when not at wot,as long as your not getting really high number 4 or 5 u will be ok.Sometimes guys get false knock also.

Yeah I was seeing +4-6...
I was also getting false knock which the source was never found.

Datalog WOT . Should not have any positive under load . Mine is at 27 degrees by 2k rpm and holds 30 past 7k rpm .

So, if you had 109 octane fuel will it add more timing for this as well?
