First time using a tuner, I was wondering if the nGauge can be used without leaving it plugged in to the ODB port. In the event I don’t have time to mount it in the vent after I install the CAI, I want to be able to load the tune. I understand I won’t be getting the full use of the nGuage if able to do this but I’m still trying to decide where to mount and don’t want wires hanging. Thanks for the help.

Yes, works fine. I was in the same boat as you, finally got it mounted in an a pillar mount. Wish I would have mounted it earlier vs having it roll around in the passenger seat while trying to drive and datalog with it. Funny I spent the first year with dozens of tune revisions and 100 datalogs while fumbling with it in the passenger seat. Now that I have it mounted I haven’t needed a new tune revision and don’t think I’ve recorded a single datalog. It does make it easier with it unmounted as you can unplug it and carry it in the house to plug into the PC for datalog downloads and new tune downloads.

Awesome! I have the vent mount but with the performance pack I’ll have no vents so I think I’m gonna go with a pillar mount as well. Where did you get one from?

I use the window suction cup, and have the wires coming out the side and up the pillar. Cannot see anything, and its easy to unmount the gauge from the window mount and take inside to the computer.

Does not look bad and easy to see.

Have any pics of your setup?
