They integrated seat base with power rails, so no easy way to drop the seats. so I'm buying after market seat platform, then putting in recovered seat out of 2011-14 mustang that just uses 4 bolts one each corner. you also buy low slider kit.

Is that for the non-Recaro seats though? Recaros are all manual I believe; they are manual in the R.

I'm just 5 '10 that's only 6 more inches shorter than you. I would think that if you use the switch (push down on it) you would get plenty low, but maybe our torsos are way different lengths.
Just a couple inches here and there and preferred driver position can make a big difference in how you fit in the car. I'm 6' 4" but I have a slightly longer inseam than the OP at 36" and I fit fine even with a helmet. I have the tech pack option on my car, but I drove the track pack with the Recaros at the GT350 track attack event.

I also would like to sit a little lower in the car, but it's just because that is my preference. My head doesn't interfere with the roof or anything.

Thanks for the responses. I'm reading the input and doing a bit of research on the topic.

I think my best option is an aftermarket driver's seat. I'm trying to figure out all the components that have to be bolted together to make it work, but here's what I'm thinking so far:

  • Recaro SPG XL seat
  • Brey-Krause Ford Mustang S550 Driver Side Seat Track Adapter (R-9184)
  • Brey-Krause Side Mounts for Recaro SPG XL (R-9066) OR Recaro equivalent
  • TBD seat slider? Recaro?
I have open questions about how this will work with stock seatbelts, how I manage the loss of the stock seat side airbags, and how the whole thing fits together.
This is the direction I'm going. I was actually looking to use the recaro brackets with wedge sliders. I'll take a look at the Brey Krause option. I'm doing it as I'm a 38/40" waist and don't fit the stock seats and don't want to cause undue wear on them. So they'll be stored. I'll enjoy the benefits of lowered seat, less weight and more comfort. Lol

I've spent some time over on Rennlist learning more about one-piece seats.

Seems it's considered a bad idea to have a one-piece, fixed-back seat without a rollbar. If the car were to roll and cave in the roof, the stock or other tilting-back seats could fold thus increasing the chance of survivability. I tend to think that if the roof caves in you're probably toast either way, but I get the argument.

I need to retain the use of my rear seat, so a rollbar is out.

Have you looked to see of the stock rails can be cut to make them lower?

read first post, because they made bottom seat part of adjuster base, no place to cut. see pic

http://www.oemfordpart.com/auto-par...as-engine/body-cat/tracks-and-components-scat

this is the 2010-14 style seat attaches to base with 4 bolts

so take a 2014 seat bolt directly 600 series with low profile track kit, will get you lot lower. So I'm doing salvage yard search old seat they recover it too match.

that's my plan will see 2014 had air bags in seat
