I have been told better bolstering and better materials in a different pattern, but I can't imagine the basic structure is totally different. They are more adjustable than the Recaros, plus I appreciate their heating and cooling abilities since I live in a place where the temperature can range from -30 to +120.I cant imagine them being too different (structurally). Any firm info?
People keep saying this but I haven't seen any evidence. I posted side-by-side pics of the Tech Pack seats and the 50th LE seats in another thread and they look exactly the same. Same stitching even. The only difference was the color and the fact that the Tech Pack seats had Alcantera inserts.I have been told better bolstering and better materials in a different pattern, but I can't imagine the basic structure is totally different.
I doubt it. Even though they are very close to their retail seats, they likely are still tweaked for each respective OEMI wonder if Recaro would share any information if asked.
For #1, I meant the leather/alcantara seats currently spec'd for the GT350 Tech Pack, which I don't believe are any different than the stock Mustang leather seats other than the alcantara inserts.I think if the Recaros were designed to fit me I would prefer them, but being a big guy I asked for the tech pack specifically because I think those seats will fit me better.
I think the tech pack seats are specifically leather trim with alcantara inserts. I believe they are different than the existing stock Mustang leather seats. I don't know for sure because my GT has the cloth seats.
I didn't vote because you didn't include the option that I want. The existing GT350 tech pack seats just like Ford has optioned them.
ABSOLUTELY. Leather seats are so much easier to care for and last a lot longer than cloth seats. They are much easier to keep clean. With the alcantara/suede inserts, those will keep your butt and backside in the seat.It would have been nice to have leather bolsters on all of the recaros for longevity.
Ok, I see. Yeah I agree they look very similar if not identical. I think the alcantara will make these seats better than the stock GT leather seats, but that's just a guess at this point. For #1, I meant the leather/alcantara seats currently spec'd for the GT350 Tech Pack, which I don't believe are any different than the stock Mustang leather seats other than the alcantara inserts.
I'm 6'4 and wide for my height. I don't look stocky, but I'm certainly not slender. I have sat in the stock GT Recaros and it was a total no-go. In the stock GT seats I'm partially sitting on the bolsters. No, I have not sat in the new GT350 Recaros. I have sat in the leather Mustang GT seats and they were not that comfortable for me. I have sat in the Mustang GT leather Recaro seats and they fit me very well (even though I'm a chunky guy), they are very supportive and very comfortable. I also don't need power seats as I'm the only one who's going to drive the car (wife hates driving sticks) and in SoCal you don't need heated seats. Cooling would be nice, but is not critical.
not so easy with air bag in the seats - i personnally asked recaro about getting the seats from them that matched the 2012 shelby and they said no - only through ford. Look on the internet at all the effort that went into getting recaros in to pre 2012 shelby gt500 - can be done but not easy. There is nothing preventing you from buying the Recaro seats that are the same exact style or better than what is equipped with this car. Recaro is an aftermarket brand that will make seats for anyone who wants to buy them. So really ???? if you have the scratch to buy this car...its really a drop in the bucket to get the seats swapped into Recaros for the tech pack and sell the leather seats.
By that same token you can buy a set of Recaro seats with leather bolsters or a different color combination or with suede leather insets instead of the alcantara and class it up a bit...
I would likely prefer the 6-way powered adjustable seats that come with the tech pack. Simply because this car is intended as a daily driver for me and that trim level is simply classier and far more practical for me. If FORD provided Recaro's made with the leather bolsters with suede inserts that were also 6-way power adjustable then I would opt for those. But the standard adjustments on the Recaro's as is ...leave a lot to be desired. So no big loss for me. No filth transferred from my jacket to the fake suede cloth, easy cleanup on leather and of course a classier look and feel for me and any passengers.
