I wonder if Recaro would share any information if asked.

I cant imagine them being too different (structurally). Any firm info?
I have been told better bolstering and better materials in a different pattern, but I can't imagine the basic structure is totally different. They are more adjustable than the Recaros, plus I appreciate their heating and cooling abilities since I live in a place where the temperature can range from -30 to +120.

I can't believe some people object to the fact that these seats are available on the GT350. This is not a track-only vehicle. The GT350R, on the other hand, is less of a general-purpose car.

For the Recaro fans who think they love them but never have sat in them, check the width of the seatback - it's pretty tight on the upper bolsters, even for an average person. If the very basic Recaros in the GT350 and GT350R were more adjustable and especially had adjustable side bolsters, I probably would have ordered the Track Package.

People keep saying this but I haven't seen any evidence. I posted side-by-side pics of the Tech Pack seats and the 50th LE seats in another thread and they look exactly the same. Same stitching even. The only difference was the color and the fact that the Tech Pack seats had Alcantera inserts.

I doubt it. Even though they are very close to their retail seats, they likely are still tweaked for each respective OEM

I think if the Recaros were designed to fit me I would prefer them, but being a big guy I asked for the tech pack specifically because I think those seats will fit me better.

I think the tech pack seats are specifically leather trim with alcantara inserts. I believe they are different than the existing stock Mustang leather seats. I don't know for sure because my GT has the cloth seats.

I didn't vote because you didn't include the option that I want. The existing GT350 tech pack seats just like Ford has optioned them.
For #1, I meant the leather/alcantara seats currently spec'd for the GT350 Tech Pack, which I don't believe are any different than the stock Mustang leather seats other than the alcantara inserts.

No, I have not sat in the new GT350 Recaros. I have sat in the leather Mustang GT seats and they were not that comfortable for me. I have sat in the Mustang GT leather Recaro seats and they fit me very well (even though I'm a chunky guy), they are very supportive and very comfortable. I also don't need power seats as I'm the only one who's going to drive the car (wife hates driving sticks) and in SoCal you don't need heated seats. Cooling would be nice, but is not critical.

It would have been nice to have leather bolsters on all of the recaros for longevity.
ABSOLUTELY. Leather seats are so much easier to care for and last a lot longer than cloth seats. They are much easier to keep clean. With the alcantara/suede inserts, those will keep your butt and backside in the seat.

Ok, I see. Yeah I agree they look very similar if not identical. I think the alcantara will make these seats better than the stock GT leather seats, but that's just a guess at this point.

I'm 6'4 and wide for my height. I don't look stocky, but I'm certainly not slender. I have sat in the stock GT Recaros and it was a total no-go. In the stock GT seats I'm partially sitting on the bolsters.

I even sent an email to Recaro asking them to send me the measurements, but I haven't gotten a reply yet. It's only been 3 or 4 days, but yesterday my local dealer ordered a GT350 to my specs, so Recaro lost out on the chance to equip at least one GT350 with their seats.

There is nothing preventing you from buying the Recaro seats that are the same exact style or better than what is equipped with this car. Recaro is an aftermarket brand that will make seats for anyone who wants to buy them. So really ???? if you have the scratch to buy this car...its really a drop in the bucket to get the seats swapped into Recaros for the tech pack and sell the leather seats.

By that same token you can buy a set of Recaro seats with leather bolsters or a different color combination or with suede leather insets instead of the alcantara and class it up a bit...

I would likely prefer the 6-way powered adjustable seats that come with the tech pack. Simply because this car is intended as a daily driver for me and that trim level is simply classier and far more practical for me. If FORD provided Recaro's made with the leather bolsters with suede inserts that were also 6-way power adjustable then I would opt for those. But the standard adjustments on the Recaro's as is ...leave a lot to be desired. So no big loss for me. No filth transferred from my jacket to the fake suede cloth, easy cleanup on leather and of course a classier look and feel for me and any passengers.

Somebody needs to look under the seats or check the wiring diagram for sure, but I'll bet the wiring harness is different for the base (and Track) vs. Tech cars. Just unhooking the connection under the seats may throw a code.

^Throw a code? Why? Its not connected to MAP or O2 sensors. It's an accessory option. FoMoCo will likely have the harness in place for the track pack simply because the cars are asssembled in the same plant and production costs make it easy to swap seats while being assembled.

I've swapped seats back and forth in my Stang for track day and DD before.... its not difficult.

All cars have an occupancy sensor in the front passenger seats for the air bags. Some are now tied to the main ECU. I don't know for sure about the latest Mustang wiring and whether or not there are sensors in the driver's seat too.

Also, the Corvette, for example, uses different wiring harnesses depending on the seats being installed.

^ That's an on or off toggle, Either there is someone or something occupying the passenger seat and the car is in gear and the acc is on for the driver seat...I wouldn't think it will trip a code on the s550's unless one of the guys here already knows, please share... Because the default without the premium seats would be off and the airbags would be triggered by an impact.

It doesn't matter on my s197? Simply disconnect the harness on both sides. Remove the leather seat or seats and bolt down the slide rails on the racing seat or seats.

not so easy with air bag in the seats - i personnally asked recaro about getting the seats from them that matched the 2012 shelby and they said no - only through ford. Look on the internet at all the effort that went into getting recaros in to pre 2012 shelby gt500 - can be done but not easy.

if you want to forgo the airbags and all tthat stuff then it is easier and if you do not care if the materials match......
