Looking at a 6g Mustang as my next car and I'd really LOVE the convertible. The problem lies in that I'm nearly 6'5" with a freakishly long torso. I sat in the convertible at the auto show earlier in the year and my head hits the roof or is above the roofline. Anything I can do to make the seat lower?

Did the car you tried have power on at the seats? If not you should try a Premium vert at a dealer's lot. The driver seat can drop pretty low. The Vert has more headroom than the coupe and with the seat down you should be fine.

I'll take a look in to that. I can't remember if the power was connected or not.

Yes, the power seats can be lowered, but not much. Even in their lowest position they aren't low at all. Ford has been using "high chairs" in the Mustang since '05. I'm only 5' 10" and I have to duck down to see under the rear view mirror even with my seat as low as it will go.

I hate the trend towards high seat bottoms on cars lately. I had this problem with my Evo X as well, it felt like driving an SUV. I found stock seat lowering brackets from Japan that dropped the seats about .5" which helped a little but not all the way. The Mustang doesn't feel freakishly tall like the Evo X did but it could still go lower for me.

On the powered seats, if you look under them, the lowering is essentially "stopped" by a bar that blocks the path of the guides. I'm considering cutting off that bar on each side and seeing if the seat will go lower. Even if it never comes back up as a result, I don't need it to. I HATE how high I sit in this car and it's alllllll the way down.

The seats that have Cold Or Heat are the worst... Has anyone figured out that fix?

Many of the race oriented seats & brackets lower the seat a good bit if you don't mind losing the power adjustments and seat mounted side airbags.

As a long torso 6'4" I share your pain. And often wonder why the common seat height adjustments seem to be focused on fitting small girls into the car, with no consideration for providing lower seats for the unusually tall, or for autocrossers and racers to allow a comfortable fit while wearing a helmet.

I'm 6' 4", 270 lbs. I have a GT Premium convertible with power seats. I can get the seat low enough and recline the seat back so my head is just the right height for driving. The coupe has a slightly lower roof than the convertible. I am just slow getting in and out because I am so big. However, it is not a problem driving because the steering will telescope out. I drove from southern Louisiana to southern Indiana in 10 hours and was comfortable the whole way.

My seat back is against the rear seat bottom so no one can sit behind me.
