Have you guys been able to address this with your Ford Dealers yet? If not, bring them in for diagnosis as soon as possible. Also, please PM me with your VIN, dealer, mileage, full name, and best daytime number. I’ll loop in the customer service manager for your area.

no, it's a minor thing and I dont have time to take it in for that. I'll wait for something bigger to break and do it at the same time.

I had a similar issue with my car after 4 months of ownership. I guess the e-brake cable stretched from normal use and was causing the lever to have some play in it. You can just go under the car and adjust the e-brake cable. Its right underneath the drivers seat. There is no need to adjust calipers. See link below for instructions on how to perform the adjustment. Easy 15 min job. Once adjusted, my e-brake lever engages 100% pulling it up 2-3"

He drives a manual transmission and parked in neutral, nothing wrong with his parking brake.

No problem, Higgs Boson. Be sure to stay within your new-vehicle limited warranty.

I did mention it when I went for my Quick Lane oil service, but they said the fix would take more time requiring a drop-off, which is more of a bother than I care for at the moment. Plus I'm leery of anything that might involve disassembly of the interior trim... I don't want this to introduce any interior squeaks.

The fix doesn't take any interior dissassembly. All it is, is a 10mm or so nut right under the car, just above the rear of the x-pipe. It loosens up over time. I was under the car this past weekend on some other work, and popped a wrench on it quickly and snugged it back up, now it's back to how it was when the car was new  It was pretty much entirely loose.

Next time I'm under there, I'll get another nut on it as well, I can feel it starting to slightly loosen up already again.

FordService This is such a generic answer it may as well be a bot posting.

I understand you've got your hands essentially tied as far as what information you can give, but at that point, all you're going is giving people false hope that the Ford entity is giving them special attention when it's not really.

It would be infinitely more helpful to have a Ford representative meaningfully contribute to discussions. You have no comments about the DIY fix posted just above you?? In this particular case, taking the car in for service to have it tightened will only see it loosen up again in a few weeks/months.

How about talk to someone in engineering and suggest a more permanent fix. Loctite the nut? Double nut to hold it in place? etc. Are these good ideas? Bad ideas? Why or why not? That would truly be a truly helpful contribution.

Looks like someone woke up on the wrong side of the bed… :eyebulge:

I know some would love for me to just provide DIY solutions, TSBs, engineering answers, etc. However this is not how things work, Evil Minion. I am here for guidance, to escalate cases as needed to our regional customer service mangers, and to help where I can. Also, I encourage all work on your vehicle be performed by our factory-trained technicians at your local Ford Dealership.

Now, if you are choosing to do a repair yourself, subscriptions for Technical Service Bulletins, Shop Manuals and wiring diagrams are available for purchase online through the Motorcraft Website.

In addition, publications are available by contacting our supplier, Helm, directly. You may reach them at 1 (800) 782-4356.

Believe it or not, Evil Minion, this is the absolute best way to get the escalated attention you are seeking from the dealership. To be honest, I find it well above and beyond the norm to have a Ford Rep actively helping randoms on some random Mustang forum. Good work Deysha!

Oh I understand it's better than nothing, but I think I'm just spoiled from my Subaru forum days, where the forum was comprised of largely local people to each region, and a good number of the people on there were actual dealership techs from that region, as well as a few engineers from the Indiana plant here. There were real answers and solutions given, rather than just, oh go see your local dealer, mainly because answers were coming directly from the techs in the dealers down the street from people. It was especially great feedback when someone legitimately had to take their car in for service, when the guy working on it would post regular updates and chat on the forum :)

It was a great community, I miss it every day. Damn you Ford for making a better, more enticing car! lol

But this is getting very far off track of this thread at this point :p
OP, just get under the car with a 8mm (or 10mm, can't remember...) wrench and tighten up the nut :D

Hello all, I don’t know if anyone cares still but this is a very basic driveway job. Put the car on jack stands and right above the resonator there is a long “screw” which is the hand break line and there is a 10 mm bolt that needs to be tightened. It’s a little tricky so have long tools or small hands. I used a 10 mm wrench and another wrench to keep the line from moving around. All in all took me about 30 minutes and about 3 inches of play and a ton of engagement lights while driving was reduced to nothing and a tight hand brake
