Looking for EU LED DRL's?

Mission impossible guys.....

Could only secure tight drivers side, because I wasn´t able to make rotate the bulb on passenger side....is kind of tight, but not fully 180 rotated....



BTW any ideas on how to reach for the front sidelights? would want to change them to LED but I was not able to get the bulb from the bumper....

For sidelights you need to disconnect the cable (clip on one side) then use needle nose pliers to rotate 90 degrees counter-clockwise whilst pulling slightly. I won't lie to you, its no picnic...
Seemingly vaseline assists insertion...

Yep .. under tray off and a bit of Vaseline does the job no trouble did it today!

As to those sidelights, would having the car overhead on a ramp make access any easier or is it still a pain in the ass?

I couldn't imagine trying to do it without being on a lift and the tray dropping down .. sure you cold do the DLRs but the sides are well hidden .. Was Reasonably easy and worth doing both DLRs AND sides IMO

Lets just say I'm hoping my sides last the claimed 50000 hours... ;)

[MENTION=13328]Beachfun[/MENTION] sides were fairly easy once you take the indicator bulb off if you ask me, just the actual metal they're mounter to makes it hard to get a twist on it so you need the plyers to really go at it.

Mind you, i've got scratches all over my arms, bruises etc, from the lining, from the floor (Half pebble driveway) and a sore back/arms/shoulders form doing both... Granted lying on my side for 2 hours wasn't what i envisaged either afternoons doing them to be like :headbonk:

To get off? No I tugged really hard. To put back in it was more lubed up than.... (I won't continue that) was still hard to get a twist, but not as hard).

Fyi my sidelights are half twisted in. My arm was killing doing the other 45degrees or so.


No amount of vaseline would slip my fingers into that gap lmao

Thanks for the tip, but it didn´t made the job....

Finally, I removed the whole fog light, that sits in place with three bolts and, with the help of a 7MM ratchet and 20 minutes, it was off.

The bulb fitted perfectly once I took the fog light, dunno what was happening but by no means it wanted to rotate.

That's a good idea, might have to take mine of to fit it the rest of the turn (as both sidelight and drl are 45 degrees twisted) they're impossibly hard to twist lol. Something to do with the O-Rings.

Nothing to do with the o rings. Just fitted mine. The issue is that the plasic carrier molding for the LEDs has sharp edges and plastic 'flash' on the tabs. Take a small file (even a nail file), knock the edges off the tabs and generally tidy the edge, bit of silicon lube (fairy liquid will do just as well) then they slip in a treat. Will post pics later of what I mean.

Just did the sides too. Was expecting far more of a struggle than it turned out to be, or maybe I'm just more used to workong blind than others?

Anyway, don't be daunted by it. If you're worried, I reckon taking a wheel off so you can really pull the arch liner back would help alot, but I managed it with them in situ (and I have quite chunky forearms - no smutty jokes please ;) )

Remember - anti clockwise to take out, clockwise to return. Make sure you note the holder orientation.

Oh, and test the LEDs in the holder before refitting as they are polarised (diodes) unlike the incandescents.

Did mine tonight with the Diode Dynamics kits. Got my plumber neighbour to help and went OK. He used some silicone grease and they went back in fine. Such a difference I can't see why they aren't like that from the factory!

Only ones I have left to do are glovebox and vanity mirrors. Not sure I want to tackle them yet.
