BmacIL- Nice picture but it must be the lighting in the garage Ultra is in...looked like a different car to me.

Yeah it's different lighting. The picture I posted is what it looks like most of the time. Silver shows off the lines of this car better than anything else.

Different lighting conditions become magical on the Ingot Silver Stangs. A couple weeks back I was parked topless next to Lake Travis at a cafe at sunset, and some clueless Dude thought my vert was an Aston Martin...it was gleaming in that sunset light. Ingot Silver makes the car look much more expensive IMHO.

All good. Just go down road and say out loud the colors you see. All it will be is black white silver and dark silver. Black black white white black silver black white black black silver black white white silver dark grey

And you forgot bronze.
Black - White - Gray - Silver - Bronze
That's all there is anymore. That is the only reason I took the photo below.

That's part of the reason I got Guard. It is totally different from most things you see, but still isn't RED or YELLOW or ORANGE.

Vinyl?...Like the things you stick on windows over the holidays for decoration??

Not sure about gloss/flat/satin/etc...I think I'd need to see them side by side. But again, whatever I get it needs to last a LOOONNNGG time. I don't want it looking like hell after a couple decades of being in the garage.

Thanks

Car vinyl graphics have improved over the years. They last about as long as anything else - your paint, rubber seals, clear protective film, clear coat, waxes, etc.

Stripes are only about 0.003" thick. Upkeep includes avoiding over-working them, same as for your paint.

If your car will sit outside all year round, then the stripes will age faster, just like with everything else. If your car is inside 50% of the time, or you put a cover on it, then they will last longer. Eventually they could fade a bit (like your paint), or crack.

But they are replaceable. And you can get a different color next time.

I would say you are safe with stripes if you convince yourself now that you are willing to spend $500 now for them, and then $500 again in 5 years or more. Looking at it another way, they run you $10/month. Kinda like any other "option" you get for your car.

I've never liked silver on any mustang but the ingot silver on the s550 mustangs looks so damn good! It really does show the lines a lot better than any other color out there.

Only downside is that the paint underneath the stripes will age differently than the uncovered paint, so if you decide to go stripeless in the future, you might be able to tell.

Honestly, I'll just replace my stripes when they wear out. I park outside 100% of the time, so they will eventually fade. If I get 5 years out of them, I'll be a happy camper.

My car will be garage kept year round, aside from any trips or home repairs...but still, I think I'd rather not have stripes given that they can chip/wear/etc...along with the point you raised about the paint underneath aging differently.

So when comparing how cool they look with all the negatives of how they change over time...not worth it to me personally.

Now watch...I'll see one with stripes somewhere, fall in love with it, and end up buying it! :D

That loooks super werid.
I don't think Mustangs look good when lowered too much. The problem is the wheel well is just too low on the overall body.

Hey, it's all good. That's the cool thing about mustangs, you can customize them a 1000 different ways to your taste.
