Interesting - they sold to Carmax for $27,000, they paid sticker price for it, $45,490, when new 14 months ago - quite a depreciation hit.

That is not what you or I would pay for it if we go to Carmax.

But I agree, that is a large chunk of change... but I'm not surprised, not even bothered. About what I'd expect... selling to a dealer.

They should have at least tried to sell privately, then again, they probably just needed to get rid of it quickly, move onto the next car to long-term test.

I've seen used GT Premiums listed for high twenties and low thirties. They write off the cost anyway, but yes they sure as hell do depreciate a lot. Not surprising considering people can get them for 6k Off MSRP.

In addition to buying high and selling low, they also had high miles. 21k+ for a 1 model year old car is high miles when valuation is calculated.. My 42k sticker cost me 36k with all fees included. I have 5500 on mine. So theirs looks like a modded beater compared to others it might compete against in the used market.
